2,901.7 and that's just fine by me.
9000+ over the past 3 years... and a 3 year old marathon PR to show for it. Why?
9000+ over the past 3 years... and a 3 year old marathon PR to show for it.
Why?
Well, I have nearly 15,000 miles in the last 5 years and my marathon PR is 4+ years old.
On the other hand I'm in striking distance of a 9 year old 5k PR, and, at age 43, just ran my first sub-5-minute mile since high school. One option is to stop running marathons.
Runners run.
I was sad yesterday when nobody changed the name to fatass boozebags.
Thank you, shield-bearing fucktards, whoever you are!
I put it under there.

Another is to stop running anything shorter than marathons! At age 47 I just ran a marathon PR, third sub-3.
Not quite 2,500 on the year for me. I thought I would make it, but my hamstring is shutting me down. I'm paying the price for going into the goal marathon with it in bad shape -- I'll take it.
This may still be my highest year yet, not sure. I don't have complete data here before 2010.
"Way to make Borat look overdressed"
Yay. 3000. I keep going back and forth between being motivated and not motivated. My marathon PR is almost 3 years old and i'm not as old as you people. I have a good week, then I have a bad week. I haven't officially started training for the spring race yet, but damn...the base building has not gone according to plan. My hip hurts. Its fucking cold outside. Its dark before work. Its dark after work. I broke my treadmill. I hate myself for being a pansy. I somehow made it over 3000 miles but it's not good enough. I have failed. I am broken.
Heres to 2013!
How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?
break'n three
Didn't make it this year because of a slow month this month for good reasons. Actually, I never checked my yearly mileage this year except for when Thunder would email me telling me he was about to pass me.
Was a good running year for me: real life PRs in 5k, 10k, and 10mi.

Hey, you can take your "good results" and "PRs" and shove em up yer ass! This group is about running a lot, ad grinding yourself into a disappointed, sniveling, washed up old has been.
Hey, I tied my 5k got and got a new 10mi PR this year. So it hasn't been all bad.
Thunder smash!
Racked up my most miles per year ever. The good - got a big 50 mile PR and just barely managed a 10 mile PR. The bad - still did not crack my rather soft 5K PR and missed a chance at breaking my marathon PR because I went for what I now realize was an unrealistic goal.
What I learned- If I want to do well at the marathon, I need to focus more on the marathon specific workouts. Some may be able to combine ultra training and marathon training for a PR, but I am not going to get to <2:50 this way. Also, need to do more core/strength work as this makes a big difference in hamstring, IT-Band, and hip flexor pain. Less injury=better training.
2013 Goals: Run trails.
I fell 85ish miles short and I can live with it. It is way below the 3500 I got the previous two years but I'm not over worried about that. This is the year of speed and I will be training to get a faster half. Boston 2015 is when I break 3 hours. Yeah I've got some time and I am going to need it.

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."”
That deserves applause.

Definitely.
Doc, my tooth hurts
Over 3000 for the first time ever. Woo.
I didn't see a HUGE improvement in race times though, and I'll try to get 3k this next year too...already planning probably about 10 days off for vacation after a marathon so will have to hit some higher mileage at some point to achieve it.
