I could care less about nike but somehow I've gotten into a long term relationship with Lunarglides as my daily trainer for plodding along. I've bought 7 pairs so far.
I can usualy find them for $30-40 below retail but for an extra 50 bucks I can get them in flyknit and save a couple ounces. It seems like a waste of money. What's the word on flyknit? Should I care?
You bastards were supposed to talk me out of getting this! Since you were no help I went and bought a pair. Probably nobody will care to know about them since I'm the only one around here crazy enough to buy them.
They are about 20% lighter than my lunar glides but seem more like a lighter version lunar elite. Should be a good shoe for quicker paced workouts, tempos and stuff.
+1 on the Lunar Glide. It took me so long to wear out the last pair of Lunar Glide 2 (700 miles) that I completely missed the 3rd generation. One of the best high mileage trainers out there for, ahem, the slightly less petite.

I have a "trainer-to-racer progression" question.
When I first started running, I bought the Asics Nimbus. Trained and raced my first marathon in them. Then I learned more about shoes (i do things backwards often) and started training in the Asics Cumulus and racing in the Speedstar. Then trained in the Speedstar and raced in the DS Racer. Now I am training in the Racer and considering the Hyperspeed for the marathon. Bad idea jeans? I mean, I'm not going to start running these things barefoot, but i do like racing in something lighter than what I've been training in. I guess I'm concerned that the Hyperspeed may not be enough shoe (for me) for the distance. Any other racing shoe suggestions?
Also, completely self aware that I am over thinking this.
You should go get the clap just so you can give it to her. --beef
Nemo, all I can say is that I've run a bunch of marathons in the Hyperspeed, including most of my best ones. Even though I'm not really an Asics guy, I think they are a GREAT marathon race shoe.
Runners run.
Right on Hereford...

A lot of runners have moved from more shoe to less shoe over the years.
Just try the Hyperspeed in a half marathon race and/or some long runs. If it works for you in those situations, it will most likely work for you in a marathon.
I've moved from more shoe to less shoe. Hell, I run 100 milers in racing flats.
But I've also had more chronic crap to deal with the past few years. On any given day now, a workout could be shut down due to Achilles, hamstring, knee. Correlation to footwear? That would be nice to know.

When I started getting blisters in the bottoms of my foot and arch during long runs (18 to 20mile) and during marathons, I backed up to a more cushioned shoe for those. YMMV
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

I've got a pair of the Flyknit trainers. Only run in them once so far. Lots of feedback on the upper causing a heel blister. Didn't do that to me, but I heard they are going to update the heal counter a bit on the next editions. Not sure what the deal will be with the offshoot flyknit products.

Thunder smash!
Hyperspeed is an awesome shoe. Not sure about the latest versions - haven't tried them, but it used to be great for anything from 5k to marathon. I wouldn't run 26.2 in them unless I was only going to be out there for about 3hrs or less.
That said, I know someone who races 100 milers in racing flats.

OK, the shoes are nice. I don't care to move away from a cushioned trainer for most of my running so these certainly feel interesting since they are light yet cushy.
With a couple runs I can see/feel how some might get a heel blister. The uppers have such minimal structure they are almost sock like and stretchy and must be designed to stay on your foot somehow. Fortunately I haven't had a problem with winter weight wool socks. When tied they are secure on the foot.
So, I'm happy with them but don't think I'll buy another pair or recommend them due to the stupid price. I'll be looking for sales next fall.

I've been running in the Adidas Boston 3 and really like them, but would like them even more if they were just a little bit lighter with a little less heel. How does the Adidas Aegis 3 compare to the Boston 3?
