Pipe Dream Goal would be sub 3
A Goal sub 3:05
B Goal is to PR sub 3:14:51
no clue how this is going to turn out with the lack of tune up races and the runners knee flare up, but going for it....planning to run with the 3:05 pace group, so sub 3 would be a miracle

Best race of my life. I think the course was about a 1/10 short, but 1:04:41 was the official result with a fairly significant negative split. Beat the local rival. He'd been killing me at every distance from 5k to 50 miles over the past year. We came to the last 1/4 mile shoulder to shoulder running full tilt. I edged him by 2 steps at the line. Qualifying for Boston was a thrill, but today was a right up there.

Love it!
Congrats, Cory!

AP, is that a 5K PR? You seem to post one here every week so if this is the best yet... damn. Damns all around.
Yes, thanks. I don't often PR the 5K, probably b/c I race it a lot, and don't train & peak for it optimally enough to push down what little space I have left available there. I have only been under 18 once, at this race a year ago, and I was starting to think I'd never go under 18 again.
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

If you click on my name (Kevin Boughan), you'll a little 10 sec vid of the finish. Kinda cool.
Umm.. run a tempo one day and PR / crush a 5k the next.
Very nice.
Crazy good racing this week! Congrats to all!
Cory, 1:04:X is awesome, that should translate to <3:05 to the marathon or just think what kind of damage you can do to your 50 mile time. At a minimum, remember that Ice Age has good beer at the finish.
Eric, blow ups are sometimes good. You just need that fire to come back and get some revenge!

Well, you all had one fine weekend of racing just to make my job harder; corland has the race of his life and AmoresPerros manages to eke out a 5k PR, Candice and Willie are winning races again (ho hum, what's new   Gville wins a race and has a youtube video of himself doing it, and of course Nader gets another huge PR, this being the summer of Nader and all (is anyone going to drugtest this guy for reals? sheesh)
But I have decided to give this weeks imaginary fucking cartoon to none other than just devin, who has broken 20 minutes for the first time ever in the 5k! Congratulations just devin, this is only the beginning!
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

Congrats to devin.
I'm disappointed b/c that finish line video won't play for me. Darn it. Maybe eventually someone will post a link the 5K national champ race, and that will console me.
Yes... awesome week all! Tough crowd!
The first time under 20 always holds a special place... Nice work devin!

Absolutely.
Congrats, JD!
Thanks to everyone here for doing what you do. I have learned so much about this stupid thing we do from stalking logs and reading discussions. The racing thread in particular is a favorite of mine - so inspiring to see all the fast times. Keep up the good work!

okay, did you guys watch this?
mr kevin crosses the line, and then this guy like a shirt & tie walks out in the street and looks over towards the chute (and presumably mr kevin) then looks down the road and then back again like, where is everybody else??
amusing.

No, because it didn't work for me. But you inspired me to try again. Allowing script from longtailvideo.com did the trick, so I got to see it.
We've talked about the idea of videoing the finish line as a backup for timing -- this is kind of a neat idea -- letting runners see themselves finish.
