Feb 14: Run With Your Heart - trail 15k

Goal: Stay upright

It's a new race so I have little idea of the course. Surface is hilly bridal trail, I think. With 2' of snow on the ground, footing will suck and useless to pick a time/pace goal. Signed up so I'll run it but should probably be racing the road 5k in downtown instead.

Why 4:19?  Did you come up with that or was it your coach?  Your recent races and workouts indicate something more in the 4:30-4:35 range.  I only say this b/c even though you have set some PRs recently you have missed your goal and eventually that cycle of running fast, but still feeling disappointed about the result can wear on a runner mentally as well as physically.

i say 4:19 because that would qualify me for the conference meet.  I honestly would be surprised if I ran it myself, but for me a goal is something to shoot for, not something that I have to get.  All I'm looking for is improvement, and if I feel like I improved and ran my best in a race, then I'll be happy.  I'm honestly not really that disappointed with not reaching the goals I had in the 3k and 5k.  I improved and I can live with that.

And that's besides the fact I ran 4:29 in high school and I'm in much better shape than I was in then..

Chomping at the bit for this one.

Mercedes Marathon.  Birmingham AL.  2:45 or less.  That would be a pr.  Finish in the money (top 5).

There are atleast 4 others under the title "elite runners" for this marathon who a 2:45 would be a cakewalk.  This is including two who are low 2:20 marathoners (James Cheruiyot & Julius Kosgei).

 Good luck Josh!

I keep forgetting which one is the evil twin.

(PS: I started "running" again, and had a race this weekend, but they canceled it. What a waste, I could have skipped the shuffling around and pretending to run if they'd told me they were gonna cancel it.)

Indy Mini (I hate that race title) Training Series 5k 2/13. I would like to say 18Tight lippedx but who knows what the weather conditions will be around here on Sat. So I will take the "sub 20" weak ass cop out route.

Does that mean I'm not going to be dragging you around Eagle Creek for 16 miles?  Or am I just the warmup?

I could run from Eagle to downtown as a warm-up. I think that would be about 12.  PM on its way.

Feb 13    Iron Horse 100k    Florahome, FL   Goal:  Sub-11:30

This is my first 100k that doesn't involve climbing the equivalent of Everest, so (if nothing goes wrong) it should result in a PR.  Since it is flat, I really want to work on maintaining a steady pace throughout the race.

Today I will do things others won't, so tomorrow I can do things others can't.
