I am going to Callaway Gardens Marathon in Pine Mountain GA.  I have no goals worth writing.  Let's say fitness check for 26.2 on Sunday.  'tis time to set a benchmark.

Good luck. Out of curiosity, how many months is your marathon streak?

1/29  Windburn Six in the Stix    6 Hour   Bartlett, IL   Goal: 1OA (female)

I had all these mileage goals, and plotted out all my pacing for the 2.28 mile loops, but they sent us an e-mail that said the path would be in the same condidtion as last year.  This means snow hasn't been removed all year, and it will be right below our knees.  This led to some crazy low mileage last year, so there is no reason this year should be any different.  It is a small, local fatass, so I think a win could happen.

So the snow wasn't up to our knees, but it was deep, and it was a mess.  This was on a 15 foot wide path, not singletrack, so it just seemed to get choppier, not stomped down (this would improve closer to the end).  I started off doing the most exhausting 11 minute miles of all time.  Legs were going in every direction.  It was ridiculous and I felt and probably looked pathetic.  I wanted to quit after 2 laps, but I would have 4.56 miles as a 6 hour result following me around for all time.  That would suck.  So I ran.  I ended up with (a whopping) 31.64 miles and legs that feel like I ran a 100k.  It was nice doing a local fatass, though.  It was a  $5 donation that they didn't pressure anyone for.  You recorded all your own laps, and brought your own drinks, gus, and food, but they were nice enough to put out hot coffee and soup.  That's my kind of race.

Who the hell is Gus, and why did you bring him to the damn race?

The dude in charge of keeping my post race beer cold, but not esplodin'.  Duh.

            Ahh.  Brett's friend.

              Yes sir!

              Noshville after? Smile

              Dur.

Unless I blow off Umstead and run LBL instead.  LBL is the same day as TK and much closer.

Actually I'd find that tempting for the humor...

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Oh, I was 8OA female...which makes me really happy because a bunch of Team USA MN showed up and I ended up beating a couple of ladies I never beat.

MTA: And it was actually 1:19:57, not 1:19:51. Oops.

OMG, I did. it was only a small, local fatass, so it was REALLY not a big deal. You may not be aware, but Chicago is not exactly a ultrarunning hotbed.

Oh wow, I didn't even pick up on that. I read it as 10OA! ha! Congrats WG. Not that 10OA wouldn't have been cool too...reading about your races hurts my legs.

1:20:41, 26th overall, chicked by about 3 or so in the half, a couple more in the full.  17:51 through 5k then basically gave up for the last 10 and jogged it in. on the plus side, that freed me up to concentrate on the fast girls as they slowly went by, quite a few tramp stamps, not that there's anything wrong with that. oh, well, try again in 4 weeks.
