BEER ME (Read 3443 times)

Goose Island Big John Stout...great bottle for the price $11 for a 22oz bomber.. highly recommend searching some out...similar profile as the BCS... they add cocoa nibs, but no bourbon barrel aging

Had a Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout...awesome brew..highly recommend and worth seeking out!!!

Our local beer-geek hangout is having a stoutfest right now, and we've been working our way through the menu. I think my favorite of the bunch has been the Founders Imperial Stout.  Lots of good stuff on tap, but it stood out.

I also tried a half pour of the Rye on Rye from Boulevard Brewing in St. Louis. That's another fine beer, but you definitely have to be a fan of the whiskey taste.

I'm a huge fan of the Founders Imperial Stout. I've been drinking it out of bottles but had it on tap yesterday.

I really like the Founders Imperial Stout also. I think it's better than Old Rasputin.

I agree...Although, I'm not a fan of Old Rasputin. I've had a couple of bottles and was underwhelmed.

They've got the Old Rasputin on tap, but I haven't tried it yet. I want to say it's the XV barrel aged version. If so, I probably missed my chance.

I haven't tried the Old Rasputin XV BA version. The local shop has it, but it's $24 for a 500ml bottle

                  SELFISH, like you.

Count me as anther fan of Founders Imperial Stout. As soon as I get up I'm cracking a Founders Breakfast Stout.

Speaking of Imperial... I just picked this up today. I'm saving it for a special occasion.

Finally took down your wreath, too, I see.

                          Had this yesterday.

Sam Adams calls it a Stout. BA has it listed as a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. I would agree more with BA. It was an interesting beer. Very earthy and somewhat dry as if there were tannins in there. All of the flavors are kind of subtle. Some roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits. I'm thinking it might have been better if it had a little sweetness to it, but overall I enjoyed it.
