2000 miles sigh

September 24 - 30th racing thread! (Read 974 times)

Well, well, well  so you all conspired to PR a lot, and in not small ways; 3 minutes, 6 minutes, over an hour,  etc.  killing it (I'm looking at you EGH3) Joe. spcurcio, xhristopher, and mikeymike, even Thunder had a good race!  Slimbo was running well, Daddyo in a great comeback event.

but I will have to break the PotatoHead rules (like the Ciderhouse rules, sometimes are meant to be broken)  and give this weeks award to that international running star: Ben Schneider!!   Congratulations, you continue to awe and inspire us!

    That's damn right.  Good call.

In it for the long run..

Yay, Ben!  And congratulations to all you other strong racers this past weekend.

Potatohead rules were meant to be broken, especially when  guy breaks a 3 year old PR that was pretty ballsy to begin with.

        Runners run.

        SELFISH, like you.

          That's damn right.  Good call.

Exactly. How can you not beat all but three Germans on Earth at a World Majors on their home turf and not win it?? I think anyone else on the list would have returned it.

Great call Ilene. Very nicely done Ben.

              This.

              Thunder smash!

A lot of great races this weekend, but anyone else getting the Eight ball would have been a sin.  Congrats Ben!

                Was jetzt hündin?

What Ben failed to mention in his race report was that the day before the race at the most unorganized expo known to man we were forced to eat tofu & pineapple sandwiches with carbonated water. "Still" water is hard to come by which we had not yet learned. Ben then proceded to have an allergic reaction to the tofu sandwich and was sick for the rest of the day. Apparently, that is the key to PRing. If only I was allergic to tofu sandwiches as well.

                  Was jetzt hündin? Indeed.

How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?

                  Was it all a dream?

                    Awesome Smile  Thanks everyone!

When I ran my former PR, I was still on that fun steep section of the improvement curve.  Over the last few years, I've learned to appreciate how many factors need to come together for a marathon PR when that curve starts flattening out.  Though I'll admit I was a bit down on myself during the race when the early 5:30/mi pace slipped to closer to 5:40/mi, seeing 2:26 on the clock after passing through the Brandenburg gate was amazing... even if it was a bit fuzzy, as I think I may have blacked out before finishing a 26.3mi race Wink

Thanks again for all the encouragement!

Heh.  Yes, Candice probably deserves the Eight ball for putting up with a very crabby husband the day before the race.  I think my favorite part of Saturday was trying not to vomit while wandering the streets of Berlin searching (unsuccessfully) for some race morning bagels.  Good times.
