When you say "swim over" they really do "swim over" you. I swam 42 minutes this summer and the fast guys behind me just went right over top of me without seeming to adjust their line at all. This more or less resulted in me having to stop swimming every time it happened, pause for the guy to finish with me, and then regain momentum. It just makes slow pokes like myself even slower.
You're pretty much right on with that. That's why I don't swim and stick with running. I swam in that chaos in my one and only tri. I can deal with the occassional elbow or pushing while running but when it comes to getting swam over, no thanks.
In it for the long run..
Ahh, The problem was either my persistent inability to navigate "ironman" websites or the fact that their websites have horrific usability. (I'll try not to go off on a rant but) I went through the 70.3 website's front door for recent results and was linked to this page framed with a prominent 2012 banner. Upon closer inspection I see it's labeled 2011...
Yeah- no kidding. We were trying to do the athlete tracking and figure out his place from the website DURING the thing and we kept winding up at the Augusta Ironman site. It is a VERY difficult website. I did the same thing with the 2011 results and couldn't find him.

2:26:52 38th overall 97 second PR! Only took ~15,000 miles. Ended up in no man's land from mile 6 to 16 and spent a bit too much energy fighting a wicked headwind. Experienced a new level pain over the final miles, but fortunately was able to hold on for not too terrible of a positive split. Definitely time to drink some beer.
How do you say "What now Bitches !" in German ?
great running Ben.

Nice of you to let Mutai win.

I just put into google translate, and man, it made me laugh for some reason:

Only reason I checked in today ~ to see how you and your old lady did.
Nice

2013 Goals ~ Mar < 3:00, 5M < 29, 10k < 35
My big race today was getting to watch my son win the non-pro division of the Ironman Poconos 70.3. He was 12th overall (beat some pros) and finished up a hilly bike and run course with a 1:20:52 half marathon. He qualified for the 2013 World Championships in Las Vegas and had 2 hours to declare if he would attend and pay. He did. It was very cool because we haven't seen him compete in a long time. Philly will be his first marathon.
Thats a hell of a race

I ran 3:13:38. That was about all my undertrained ass could pull. I'll take it. I can't wait to train hard again. The race was super fun...almost overwhelming. The crowds were bigger than the NYC marathon. It was craziness. I'm glad Ben PR'd (historically fate has never allowed us to at the same time) he deserved it. Germany is fun. I don't think I've accidentally called myself a jelly donut yet, JFK style. We're headed to Munich for Oktoberfest tomorrow. Should be more craziness. congrats to Kiley, Karen! That's so awesome. Must be fun watching him compete again.

I am out of practice and forgot to check back in here with results. And of course, with congrats to all those who raced this weekend - well done!
For me, it was a huge success considering the July August I had. I persevered and killed my (soft) goal of 5:30. The trail was a 12.5km loop - hilly, but no major climbs. The 4th loop seemed to be hillier for some reason!
First loop was too fast as the 25k runners that started 10 minutes after, caught us and pushed our pace. My pacing was inconsistent so I was in no mans land for most of the race, which was kinfd of nice because the Ultra guys like to chat and I didn't feel like chatting!
The last loop was tough due to the missed training but I held on to keep it under 5hrs.

Well, well, well so you all conspired to PR a lot, and in not small ways; 3 minutes, 6 minutes, over an hour, etc. killing it (I'm looking at you EGH3) Joe. spcurcio, xhristopher, and mikeymike, even Thunder had a good race! Slimbo was running well, Daddyo in a great comeback event.
but I will have to break the PotatoHead rules (like the Ciderhouse rules, sometimes are meant to be broken) and give this weeks award to that international running star: Ben Schneider!! Congratulations, you continue to awe and inspire us!
Pitch perfect, Ilene. Ben was the performance of the week. Nice!
