Race Thread 25 - 31 July (Read 1100 times)

As I noted somewhere else, racing marathons is just very hard. There is no way around this and why I can't seem to remember that fact between races astonishes me.

"You have to forget your last marathon before you try another. Your mind can't know what's coming." Frank Shorter.

I heard you looked good at the finish.  Smile

It's all about the stylin baby! Big grin

      SELFISH, like you.

Just went back down to watch the 12 hour runners finish (and the 24 hour runners continue). Holy shit man. I'm so unworthy.

Swung by again at about 5 pm (22 hours in) and noted this this had become mostly a walking event and bore less resemblance to the 12 hour than the 12 hour did to the marathon. It's seemingly another sport entirely. Holy shit man.

          I know I don't get a vote but still, 8ball, motherfuckers.

          I agree.

Xhristopher for Eight ball for getting knocked down hard, tucking and rolling, and picking himself right back up again. Racing marathons is hard. And voluntary. But it's a daisy-picking frolic in the park compared to getting run down by a FCKNG out-of-control automobile.

Uh, no. Not me. Running your second fastest marathon in circles, with wind, rain, humidity, and nausea is 8ball worthy.

I fell about 3 - 4 seconds short of PR today in 5k. So, didn't make my goal. But, redemption is only a week away.

                Staying sub-6 still -- good!

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

7/30 White River 50 Mile - Crystal Mtn., WA

Goal: sub 10hrs and beat arch nemesis

This race was a disaster for me last year so I am thinking an hour PR is possible.

                  Fail goal #1: 10:13

                  Success goal #2!!

Pretty good day even though I didn't go sub 10. 46 min PR for me on the course and 3rd in my AG.

Awesome time, Sara; congrats! 10 hours would have been my goal this year as well.

I just saw an article which pointed out that SF is a qualifier for Boston, so I believe Wardian just qualified for Boston.

                        Heh.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

24:28, on a hot & steamy evening.  Not what I wanted, but even the faster runners in my club were slower tonight, so I'm happy with it.

smalcolm for Eight ball this week.  Lots of tough runs by even tougher runners.
