Anthem 5-K Louisville
No lcue on goal I probably shouldn't even be racing I was sick last week, but its only a 5K so I guess I'll just go out fast and try to hang on

Race closed, I didn't register in time (had no idea they'd close it), ergo, no race for me.
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
2/27 Maple Leaf Indoor Marathon Goshen, IN Goal: Don't trip a good runner, sub 3:49
I need a kick in the pants and a change of pace. I looked at what races are going on this weekend and there is a race that has been closed for a long time that I had noticed before. It only has 25 runners. This morning I thought I should waste the RD's time and let him know that I am available if anyone backs out (but I thought there would be a waiting list with so few people). He just e-mailed me back. Someone just canceled.
I have always wanted to try an indoor marathon. It is on an upstairs track and the loops are counted by members of the local college's track team (so they will probably be texting and on facebook and I will run 33 miles). It is supposed to be 204 laps.
I don't know how long this will take with all the turns, a narrow track and 25 people on it. I don't care. It will be a new experience and a long run. If it takes me 4.5 hours I won't stress.

It will be a new experience and a long run.
Sounds like fun. Here's an illustration of last year's race.
The process is the goal.

Sweet! I'm liking my chances of being 1st woman. Unless those are women.
After more than two hundred laps of an indoor track, who could tell.
My DW avoids 3k on indoor tracks because of the mental effort to race 15 laps.
You DW could hand my ass to me on a track. If I am ever at a race and I see her coming I am going to curl up into a fetal position and cry.
I see her coming I am going to curl up into a fetal position and cry.
She has the same effect on me.

Because of flooding on the course, the Anthem 5k Fitness Classic course has had to be changed. This course WILL NOT be a certified course. To see a map of the new course, click here.
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

2/27, cowtown half marathon, Fort Worth, TX; goal Top 5OA, don't get chicked, 1:15:30, wanted to break 1:15 but it's looking pretty hilly and windy tomorrow morning. decided not to defend my 50K title at the same event, since, well, i'm a wuss and 31 miles was really far. www.cowtownmarathon.org

My goal is to not race this weekend. However, the police chief seems intent on canceling my race so unless we get a much better forecast than is currently out there in the next 2.5-3 hours, no mid-winter classic this year. Apparently, he doesn't think the town can handle runners and 1-3 inches of snow for some reason

So, like I said, goal is not to race, just to put one on. But, if I can't put the race on, then I'm going to do the last snowshoe race at Bradbury. If I do that, then:
Race: Bradbury Blizzard
Location: Bradbury Mountain, Pownal, ME
Distance: 5 Mile Snowshoe Race
Soft Goal: Be a Bad Ass
Stretch Goal: Top 25%
My soft goal is pretty soft because all I would need to do is finish the race. (Bad Ass designation comes from doing all of the races in the series and gets me a special prize and a chance to win a pair of Dion snowshoes.)
Stretch goal is to finish top 25% because I've shown so far that I'm not in the kind of shape I need to be competitive and my snowshoe running skills are seriously lacking. Given that this will only be my third time running in snowshoes, and the first time was wearing snowshoes that are very much not meant to be run in, this isn't surprising. I figure finishing in the top 25% is a good stretch since in race #1 I was barely in the top third, and in race #2 I either was barely there again or just missed it.
I'd rather do a little better. Now that I have a few more weeks of running after my month off, will be wearing smaller, lighter snowshoes than I did in race 1, and will probably not have 3/4 of a loaf of bread's worth of french toast 2 hours before the race like I did for race 2, I think that maybe I can do a little better than I have been.
But, hopefully, I'll be in Cape Elizabeth organizing the volunteers instead.

Yeah, I saw that last night. I'd like to think the course was correct since I actually ran a decent race (16:49 chip time tying my RA PR), though it may have been a little short, it was also a slight net downhill. I do know the mile markers were off though because I'm pretty sure I didn't really run 5:09, 5:51, 5:49 (last 1.1). Regardless, it was a deep field as I was 45th overall (40th male) and 11th in my age division.

2:27:11 by my watch. Very icy. If it wasn't for the screw shoes I would still be out there. I took a wrong turn on the first loop, so I actually ran a little further than a half.
The second loop was tough I definitely wanted to stop and walk. I am happy that I kept going. I still think that I am out of shape but maybe it's not so bad.
Let me also just mention that Hasher Rick and his wife do a damn good job running these races. Well done, Rick!
Semi-retired.
They really do. They foster a nice atmosphere. The kids are always there pitching in, too.
Unofficially 1:23:45 in the snow and rain, luckily the snow wasn't sticking and it didn't really bother me.
