Finished Cape Cod Marathon. Beat last yrs time by almost an hr. Of course I am much more healthy this yr not trying to will my body to the finish. On torn MCl Helps. Set what I will call a PR as First marathon of the 16 I have compeleted this time NO Knee brace.

Great work and happy to hear that the knee is better.

Happy birthday and great running Jill!

20:10 or something for me. Weak. Not my best race but it's a beautiful day for running and my co-pilot was great company. My wife said I shouldn't have had so much to drink last night.

Nice that she cares enough to make such an observation, heh.  Glad you guys had a good time.

Hey look at me throwing in my two cents again. I agree with Mikey, but not simply because it is so close in time to the race, but because you are glycogen-depleted to the dregs.  Thinking about "the marathon" in this state, you are going to feel down about it. Go hug your wife and have a hamburger and a beer. You've earned that much.

        +1 to beer

I'm just not a good marathon runner. In fact, I'm quite poor at it.

I've been there.  In fact, I'm still there.  However, I don't want to give up.  Not yet.  Last year, I ran workouts, but not marathon workouts.  This year, I got a coach and ran marathon workouts.  As Jeff mentioned, I failed at most of them.  Next year, I'll succeed at a few, fail at some more, and run faster, hopefully.  You know what my marathon experience has been so far?  I can sum it up as "failing a little less than the last time".

As others have wisely pointed out, you need  take a little time to figure this out.  If you really don't want to do it, then don't.  But I bet that somewhere inside you there's something that tells you that you can change something to run faster.  And if there is, I'm also betting you can do that to run faster.

There was a point in my life when I ran. Now, I just run.

Back beat, the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt

          Fast is better than long

I think it's reasonable to expect that you should fail a workout every now and then. Not failing any workouts might mean, you're not setting the bar high enough.

Regardless, I agree with the the process; keep trying to fail less and succeed more.

One of the local girls finished 1minute in front of me and reported running over a dead raccoon (I think it was a dead raccoon).  But I didn't see it. Maybe I missed it, or maybe someone ate it during that intervening minute.

How about it, Thunder and Jill -- how many dead raccoons did you run over?

I didn't post results because I didn't put up time goals, but I may as well give numbers.

              Sat, uphill/downhill 10K: 40:30 (2AG)

Sun, MCM: 3:40  (zillionth in my AG)

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

                At least 12.

                Bring it on.

Good choice. That was a damn fine run by bhearn.

Oh, and half naked? We believe you, Ilene.

Hey, a little pre-emptive bribery never hurts, right?

Seriously, wow, thanks Ilene, but no way does my race compare to "as deep into the pain tunnel as I've been".

Congrats to all the all the other goal smashers this week.

                            Nice run, Bob.

Lots of great running this week as usual but that's who I'd have chosen if I'd been in charge. Well done Bob!

That's as deep into the pain tunnel as I've been.

Finally, I found the right post for this pic.
