If he is a XC coach, doesn't he get to run on the job? When I was in high school, our coach used to run the same workout as us but he would run it in the opposite direction. I don't know if he was checking on us or just getting his workout in. We got PE credit for the class, so we ran during first period but still had to get to school early because the runs took longer than one period.
