    Nice job ultra ladies Smile

    Pam- congrats on third!

How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?

    On On

Great job to everyone that come out the NJ Ultra Festival.  Those that came out Friday night and set up a campsite got to hang with other runners prior to race day.  The new venue is a huge State Fairgrounds that allowed us to spread out and give the runners room at the Start Finish.

As for the course many runners thought it got a little easier as the day progressed.  Having a few thousand feet push down the trail hour after hour has that effect.

Pam and all, great job.  I hope you enjoy the spoils of victory and come by and see us in NJ again soon.

      Rick

If Nads doesn't get the Eight ball this week, Ilene is fired.

....tempting.....very tempting....early retirement hmmmmmm?  Big grin

          Nice race - Nice report

Knew you would be under 9!

           Glad someone did.

Thanks DB! IF you didn't know it, I don't think I would have tried to go sub 9 of it wasn't for you!

              7:21:15 35.5 Miles. 5th OA out of 16 - 2nd woman out of 6.

First trail run, First ultra, First time to do any walking in a race, First time to fall down in a race-oops. Thank you Mike
               for finding my glasses!

Took a wrong turn for a bit. But I wasn't the only oneSmile However, the turn was clearly marked. So I don't know.

Garmin got turned off for about quarter mile or so. Why? Dumb ass I guess.

Fell down 10 - 11 times and have the bruises to prove it. See a root and and still trip over it
Pick up your knees dumb ass! My mantra for the last six miles!
Very well organized and fun. Will I do another? Yes. But not next week.

And I got to meet the very nice, energetic and enthusiastic Runner Clay! If I only had a quarter of his enthusiasm!

MTA: And thanks again to Wrigly for mentioning ultra sign up hot list!

              MTA#2:

I should have mentioned from the first in more detail.  I lost my glasses in one fall and the man behind

me stopped.  He wouldn't go on until the glasses were found.   I repeatedly told him to go on but he wouldn't

and he did in the end find them.  I was very relieved that in the end he placed ahead of me!

Great job Steph! BTW I totally get the whole not picking up foot thing. BTDT

Yes any race that Rick puts on is well worth doing! They are all blasts!

I thought the grassy part got easier but the mud part just got muddier. Can't wait until next year!

MTA: No offense to Pam, she did great. BUT....Nader averaged sub 6. You obviously do not realize what sort of breakthrough this is for him.

                        Congrats to rockenmamaof5!

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Ilene has been upfront about the arbitraryness of her choices (and the fact that they would get more arbitrary since she was forced to do this again, even though she didn't want to.)

Plus, mam ran 50 miles, which is a fucking LONG way.

Plus, who needs an 8-ball when you've run 18:33?

I believe both of them had an epiphany moment in racing - A realization that they are capable of much more than thought previously.

Both are equally impressive to me

I am not sure what gave Rock'n the nod

Is it because the judge is sexist and is showing favortism to women

                                or

A continuation of the swamps overly being impressed by ultra-running

                                or

Was it a toss up and the coin came to Rock'ns way

                                or

Did the judge feel Rock'ns performance was a wee bit more impressive

                                or

Happy to find a way to collect severance and unemployment
