It's not Quint's fault if the rest of the field is weak and unwilling to go the extra distance.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Hey, I received an Ilene {{ }}. I'm going to run extra from now on.

Current Goals: Have Fun Jog a Lot

Redmond Watershed Preserve 12-hour, Redmond, WA, 5/21

        Goal: > 100K (PR)

On the one hand, this should be a soft goal, as my one previous 12-hour was run in 94°, and this should be much much better. OTOH, that was a flat course, and this loop is a moderately hilly trail. And I haven't run longer than a marathon since that last 12-hour, last June. And I'm still actually really beat up from the Vancouver Marathon. So... we'll see!

Result: 68.1 miles, PR, 4th overall. Thought I had 3rd locked up, but I wasn't paying enough attention.

That's a lot of running, esp for someone who hasn't run longer than a marathon in a year, yes?

You may even have violated the 25% rule.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

I can imagine running 68 miles in one week. Not in one day, and coming in 4th overall doing it.

I'm pretty sure I could have had 70+ if I hadn't gone out too fast. I am still learning how to pace ultras.

Epic fail...  Crash and burn...  Walk of shame...

I had an awesome first 16-17 miles and felt like it was in the bag, and 3:40 was in play.  Then it started feeling tougher, but still all good.

Then my legs just stopped listening to my body, and I walk / jogged the last 5 miles for a humbling 4:13...  Cry

Oh well.  I now have a marathon finish on the record.  I will do better next time!

Congratulations on your first marathon!!  There will be other chances to meet your time goal.  Smile

Fail.  I had a great race for 10 miles, and then I had stomach issues.  Aside from that, I was right on target for my goal.   Official time:  1:45:25.

Looking forward to the next one!  Big grin

My current 52 week summary shows I've run a grand total of 2 seventy mile weeks.  That's a helluva nice day's work, congrats!

The marathon can be a complete bitch of a race DnR, but you've got the right attitude.  You've got one in the books, and they'll make more.

Run to Home Base 9K - took it out at 7:00 pace for 4 miles then kicked it up as hard as I could for last 1.6 miles.  I think I actually ran a sub-6:00 pace for the last kilometer (at least according to Mr. Garmin).

Final time 38:06 - 46th overall out of 2080 or so people, but why is it that I dont care about the 2000 people I beat, but can only see the 45 people that finished ahead of me?
