First month gone and bang on target.... (Read 588 times)

......unfortunately for the 1500 mile group. Cry Still I have listened to my body and my log shows a gradual progression each month which is the sensible way to go. I will just have to see what February brings - oryctolagus cuniculus will be caught eventually. Apologies if this topic is too 'normal' for you nutters Wink

"cuniculus" ? Chiris you should apologize for not for the normalcy of the topic, but for the naughty language in your post.
I'm going to need a judge's ruling on this post. Let's go to the replay ...

God forbid you talk about something other than football. If not for this forum I would not even know who was playing. Yeah I said it.
Its a long year. You're right to pace yourself. By the way I like your avatar picture all the more now that I know you cropped out the tall lanky guy on your right who was running in his mom's pajamas .

            Runners run.

I guess I could say somehting constructive for once. Way to go on the pacing thing Chris. You get no credit for getting to 1,000 miles and getting injured. Then again, what credit does anyone besides whoever is currently photoshopped into a hamster wheel get anyway? Pacing's working well for me. I said I'd start slow, and despite being well behind the rabbit right now, I'm 4 miles ahead of where I planned to be at the end of January. Better yet, nothing hurts, and I'm enjoying running more than ever.

Safe to say that after this weekend, you won't be hearing much about football for a while. Well, unless the Bears whoop some ass. Then I might have to taunt Berner for a month or two.

I went for a long run through the streets of Chicago today ... wearing my Colts jersey over my running gear. Shocked After the abuse I heard today, any "taunts" by JK will surely be mild. The good news is that fear of having garbage thrown at me while running led me to knock out one of my better workouts in weeks. I may be on to a new training strategy.

Dude, you are a real fan. And a braver, much braver, man than I. Kudos. And no, JK, your constant taunting gets no credit for my recent upsurge in training. BTW, you racing the 10 miler this this weekend? I'll be there...

Wasn't planning on it - or even vaguely aware of it - but I always like the idea of a guaranteed PR. What's the story? Have you done it before? How many runners? T-shirts? Medals? Cheerleaders? Flying monkeys? Water? Beer? Jessica? Snow? Info, por favor. ---------- Modified to add:

Was that supposed to be a selling point? Or to keep me away?

And since we're all blatantly violating the club's only rule, another running question for Jeff (and Trent): what was up with that 5-k at the Zoo last weekend? Why were the times so slow?

I've run it before. The turnout, I think, will be decent (Trent could probably tell you better). The course is gently uphill for the first half, then you get to roll down from miles 5-8, then up over a small(ish) hill, then down to the finish. I like the course because its downhill during the hard part of the race. I don't know anything about awards, t-shirts, etc. I think the fast folks didn't show up to the zoo run for two reasons. First, most of us are kind of last-second with the local races, and the registration closed early. Second, because all the curves would make it hard to get into a rhythm at a fast pace. I regret it now--missed out on an i-pod! I think Trent's running--y'all could have a show down!

The rule says no serious training and racing talk. That's just in case a really good training thread were to break out, we wouldn't want the general population to miss out, right? The rule definitely does NOT say you can't talk about running or racing, AT ALL. Running threads that involve people crapping their pants are certainly welcome. Threads where two or more 2K members discuss a race they ran or are planning to run are good because those have the built-in possibility to degenerate into smack talk and lots if inside jokes that leave the rest of us wishing we were there.

I thought it was because we were a bunch of unstable deranged knuckleheads ...
