BEER ME (Read 3443 times)

Never pass TenFidy without taking some home. Damn good stuff. The Founders is also stellar. Add to the list SweetWater Happy Ending and Goose Island Bourbon County Stout if you can find them.

Dark Lord. Um yeah. Don't bother. The tickets to buy the beer sell out in seconds via a flakey website, and then you have to pick up your allocation onsite at the brewery at the allotted time. It is harder than hard to get. Tho I did get a 4 pack in 2011 and will try again this year, given that I know a fella who lives near the brewery and can pick up for me. If you actually do get the stuff, it is kinda over the top meh. A1 said it tasted like vodka and vanilla syrup. Add in a bit of motor oil and that about gets it.

I did buy a single 12oz bottle of the Goose Island BCS. I guess the store didn't get much and is being stingy with a one per customer limit. I have a feeling it's going to be the same deal with the Fosters Imperial. I'll look for the Sweet Water.

Also, thanks for the the info on the Dark Lord. Definitely not worth the effort. Even if the beer was killer I would not jump through that many hoops. Been there done that with some highly rated and lowly allocated wines. I was on a waiting list for 7 years before getting the privilege of being added to the mailing list. Once added you need to buy all of the wines allocated or you get dropped.

I'll have to disagree about Dark Lord being just meh. I thought it was very good. I'll agree that it was not really very stout like or even beer like really. It was more like a fortified wine. Maybe what a very dark tawny port would be like if there was such a thing. I really like port, so maybe that's why I liked it. Oh, and I didn't have to jump through hoops to get a taste. Thanks Trent & Finn! Smile

That is too bad. It comes in 4 packs. I found it to be similar to Dark Lord, tho just a bit lighter in body and more enjoyable to drink.

I'll need to keep an eye out for the Goose Island BCS.

Hmm, I'll need to keep my eye out for this.  I drink local but have found Goose Island to be pretty average.  Reviews on this look pretty damn good.

GI is, in general, average. But GI does a few things that are over the top spectacular.

managed to snag a 4pk of the Founder's Imperial Russian Stout bottled 12/20/12

Good stuff..worth tracking down!! will be even better once it sits in the cellar for a few months

They had some of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout at my local liquor store, quite a bit of it actually. Can't wait to try it.

I also picked up a bomber of Barrel Aged Old Rasputin.

Glad you liked the TenFIDY Eric!

Nice score! I was able to pick up the last couple of bottles of Goose Island BCS from my local store today. I also grabbed a 4pack of Old Rasputin, but not the barrel aged version.

Just picked up a 4 pack of Founders Breakfast Stout, a 4 of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, a 6 of Baxter Phantom Punch Winter Stout (which I just cracked open...oh my) and a 12 of Harpoon IPA Adventure (to bring to a football party tomorrow night.)

I just finished a 750mL of AleSmith Speedway Stout....great stuff, highly recommend!!

                            I'd love some, thank you.
