I'm Streaking!!!! (Read 637 times)

In 34 years of running, I've never streaked. Except for running for 34 years.

My current streak is 8 days...  I rock!

I streaked once, but it was before I was really a runner.  In college a bunch of us literally streaked the quad.  So original.

          Runners run.

Sadly my streak ended on 9/4.  Injury or laziness didn't cause it's demise.  My father-in-law had a heart attack and a stroke on Labor Day.  I spent several days and nights in the hospital with my wife and her family. Running and my silly streak didn't even enter my thoughts during this time.  It sure put things in perspective for me.

He is out of the hospital now and in a short-term rehab center.  We are hopeful that he will regain use of his right side and speech.

On Sunday I found a local 5K that benefits the MN Stroke Association and decided to run in his honor.  I was somehow able to win the race and brought the award to him at the rehab home that afternoon.  He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.  Brought tears to my eyes.

I decided to start a new streak.  I'm on 8 days, 92 miles.  The old streak ended at 285 days, 4,324 miles.

Don, it's great to hear he's making progress and very nice way to honor him.

I'm guessing you're only a week away from completing lap 2 for the year as well. Hope your FIL and running keep making forward progress.

Thanks Pauly and Ilene.  I am 57 miles away from my 2nd lap.  Before this happened I was estimating I'd hit 4K the first week of September.  I think I'll hit 4K on Sunday or Monday.  Not too shabby, considering.
