well just got back from the meet... once again, i didn't run the time i was hoping for, but i'm starting to think that this particular track just isn't for me. track spikes on a wood track just don't equate to a smooth stride. anyway... ran 15:35.61 for my first 5k PR in a little over 2 years and qualified for the Conference meet. previous PR was 15:59... also as a side-note, i get a ~19 second altitude conversion taken off of that time, which is kind of cool.

Great job. It is always satisfying to PR again after a long time of not PR'ing, you've definately been putting in the work an dit is paying off. I wouldn't put to much stock into that ~19 sec altitude adjustment though, at least not until you run in the 15:teens during outdoor season. Some people just run better at altitude (relative to sea-level)and some people run worse.
DNS. DD wanted to go ice skating seemed a better use of time since there's always another race but kids grow up way to fast.
Great decision. If it were up to me... this would be in contention for .
What was the secret, they wanted to know; in a thousand different ways they wanted to know The Secret. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes. Regarding Indiana alcohol laws, you can't buy alcohol on Sundays to drink in the safety of your own home, but it is perfectly legal to go to a restaurant and get shitfaced.....leaving you the option to drive home.
Gotta love Indiana. My parents used to live there. Some pretty crazy people there.

Trent here is a link to the photo's taken at Sundays Fell race, its worth scrolling through them.
For my avid fans fan ( are you listening Ilene? ) I'm a few lines down on page 7 "the runners"
By the way the building you can see was erected before America was "discovered"

you brits are so funny with your affinity for old erections.
if you don't run, you'll rust. [tom petty] ..... i just wanna get back on track, even if it kills me. [motion city soundtrack] ..... if i only could be running up that hill, with no problems. if only i could, be running up that hill. [kate bush] ..... still running in place [alkaline trio] ..... at least i'll try and run, and run tonight, everything will be alright [the killers] ..... don't give up the distance. You don't know the half of the loonieness but we try not to advertise too much. Would'nt want a rep or anything. I blame it on the corn, flat landscape, never ending winds and the proximity to Ohio.

No for this week?
I'll never get one so I need to live vicariously through others......
Lookin' good, Jules.
Ilene, you seriously need to go to an optician.
Our erections last many many hundreds of years. It is, however, sad that so many of them see so little use these days.
I spent a few months with them and, I think, have experienced close to half of the loonieness. They lived in Fort Wayne, which is possibly at the epicentre of craziness. And not crazy in a good way.
I laughed. Even a Brit gets the oddity of Ft. Fun.
Right on Hereford...
Wow, once I really started looking through the results, I realized what a great week of racing this was for the swamp, especially considering it was just the first week of February!
It was a tough call, but this week's absolutely has to go to Dickey. This guy has been racing hard for years, so when he gets a 23-second 5k PR at altitude, it's a big deal. Especially at his level, which is now mid-15s for 5k. Way to go, Dickey!
Jdmcgregor's amazing 15k performance is the main reason why this week's eight ball was a tough call. According to Daniels, this was the best race of his life, at any distance. Add in the fact that the course was super hilly, and that he got a 1-mile PR in the middle of it, and we must conclude that jdmcgregor is just at the start of a great breakthrough in running. Honorable Mention, congrats!
Chaloo gets an Honorable Mention as well, for running essentially the same pace on a 20k as he did in a similar-profile 15k just three weeks before. Not only that, but this was his best race at the longer distances by far. Chaloo, you will crush your half marathon PR the next time you race that distance.
And I just have to give one more Honorable Mention to Onionbag1 for the ridiculousness of running 9.5 hours in that. And for completing his first ultra. Onionbag, you are nuts, man. Nice job.
