    Yankee Homecoming 10 miler

    1:12:04

This would be a minute slower than last year, but it's an aggressive goal given my current level of suckitude.

1:13:20. Fail, but a good honest hard workin' fail. Moving on.

    I put it under there.

    Blaine Moore (MM#2867)

First, on Wednesday, I'm going to go back and try to actually run the whole Back Cove 5k.  Last week I had back pains a little over 2 miles in and cut back in the third mile.  I'm going to try going out slower and see if I can finish it with a good effort.

      Who: Run to Win

      Distance: 5k

      Race: Back Cove 5k

      Location: Portland, ME

      Goal: 18:45

If my back doesn't bother me and my wife doesn't make non-running plans for us for the weekend then I'll run the Beach to Beacon (which is always a fun and competitive race.)

Went out in about 6 minute pace, picked it up about a half mile in, wanted to maintain 6 minute pace but ran 5:49, 6:02, 5:42 splits for 18:26 finishing time. I was 8th place out of 221 people.

My back is aching a little but it didn't hurt during the run so I think that unless the wife comes up with some other plans for the weekend I'll run the Beach to Beacon and just try not to go out too fast. If I keep it manageable I probably won't wind up breaking 36 minutes but I might not be too far behind that.

        PR

21:45 on a course very likely short by 0.15.  I had no gas last night, and based on a number of factors I basically gave up the PR dream at the end of mile 1.

That sucks.  Or maybe I just suck.

Yes, I do "run in this."  So should you.  The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.

18 Second PR today in 5k. It was flat, mostly shaded, and a nice little downhill (100 yards maybe) at finish.

          18:10

          Current Goals: Run

          Not in Chicago

Nice Quint.  I had a feeling you'd get it.

            MTA: Eight ball so far.

You suck. You should just quit. Jackass. Welcome back.

I see 7 of 10 of your PRs have an 11 in the year. That's a good year of running. Good race today.

              Doughboy

You blew that away. Didn't you just run a marathon or something?

Heh, thanks. Yeah, but I'm young. I recover quickly. Wink

Wow. Guess I don't get to run in front of you in 5Ks anymore.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

                  Blaine Moore (MM#2867)

If my back doesn't bother me and my wife doesn't make non-running plans for us for the weekend then I'll run the Beach to Beacon (which is always a fun and competitive race.)  My goal will be to run sub-36...since I don't think I'm in shape for running sub-35.  This will be the first time I won't break 35 minutes since 2005 (not counting when I didn't run in 2009 due to a broken foot.)  I'm definitely not in sub-35 shape right now though.

                    Distance: 10k

                    Race: Beach to Beacon

                    Location: Cape Elizabeth, ME

                    Goal: Start, Sub-36

I told the wife that I was going to the ocean after the race so she decided to come watch the race after all.

I finished in 154th in 37:09 with a 5:59 average pace. Good for the day, although my slowest time since 2003. Ran even splits pretty much the entire race and no back problems.

In the 100 mile wilderness, which I skipped, there have been 2 finishers that I know of so far, and 7 DNFs. 3 people still running.

Goal: finish - OR - don't finish as soon as I realize that this is stupid

                       Good luck

I was 4/21 AG in the swim, 3/21 AG on the bike and 7/21 AG on the run. My run was pathetically slow but I guess thats what happens when you run 129, 99 and 49 miles in the last three months.

Fail on both goals. Knee was good until 11.3 then sharp pain again. Time went out the window at this point as I walked the last 2 ish miles, 3:15 by garmie but it also says 15.6 miles so will have to check race results later. I did get to wear my swamp singlet so that was good. And due to rain I'm sure Mel got limited pictures also a plus.
