Beat my goal of sub 4 and BQd w/ 3:54:48 and PR of >7 minutes at MCM today. Couldn't be happier. Greatest part? I registered for this race when I was going thru chemo to cheer myself up and give me something to look forward to... I'm so freaking grateful!

What in the Jehu?
Thats awesome and inspiring
The pain that hurts the worse is the imagined pain. One of the most difficult arts of racing is learning to ignore the imagined pain and just live with the present pain (which is always bearable.) - Jeff

Hope you had the best feeling in the world when you woke up this morning. Congratulations, chilidogbeagle.

There was never a doubt that you would do it! Congratulations! You kicked butt!
Well, I have it narrowed down to 2 people.
How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?
break'n three
Damnitt...I would have to be the one to choose between a recent cancer survivor PRing & BQing and a guy who was wreckless with life, stayed up all night drinking and somehow still managed to pull off the race of his life. That was a long time coming. But it also makes me believe it wasn't the race of his life. That one is coming soon after a good sober night of sleep.
Shit. But then...chilidog was just happy to BE alive. The race was a celebration of a life fought hard for. It puts things in perspective...going after a marathon PR is super hard...fighting for your life with cancer is (I would assume) a lot harder.
Okay...so here's how it's going to go down. All emotions aside. The first one to cross the line, break the tape, etc. in a race is the one they give the trophy to...right? Right. Logically, It's harder to take off that much time in a half marathon than it is to take off that much time in a marathon....plus, he made a serious prediction about his race time that was much slower than what he ran.
So Skootr, this one is for you my man!
That being said, sometimes the winner makes a speech about how there was someone there that they'd like to share the trophy with. At least, it happens in movies a lot. If you don't believe me...just watch Soul Surfer.
Hey, it's out of my hands....and this was a good tough way for me to go out as giver outer.
Congrats Skootie!! You kicked major ass. You too chilidog. MAJOR. ASS. Cancer ass. Boozin' ass. ASS-ASS. You guys kicked it.
(And all you other people that ran okay/goodish...good work friends)

You totally gave the to the right person. I would MUCH rather be a (super) star... minus the hand sniffing.
Well done, Scooter!
