    keep running.

Just had to start a new thread. The philosophical question of the day for our hot philosopher is: which is more addictive? Runners who don't smoke or Smokers who don't run

I once (70's) knew a guy in Boston who was a 2:45 marathoner and smoked a pack a day...and he trained on the Charles River paths wearing a skirt. Steve

I met a German soldier who was doing a 30km forced road march (read running in boots with a 40lb backpack) while chain smoking Marlboro reds.....He kept up pretty good, too. I smoked up until a little over a year ago. Started in college.

Miss....I like your last sig. I remember reading an interview with Tom back aways and he had that slogan either above his bed or above his desk in his office so he could see it everyday. Great "Mojo"-tivator. Steve

I've seen a lot of motivational sayings that I like, but this one stuck with me. I hate being left out and on days when I don't get to run this saying goes through my head!

                    Prophet!

I smoked up until a little over a year ago. Started in college.
started around 13 years old - stopped at 23 (tobacco and other things)...it got too expensive, needed all my money for beer.

Boy... Scout... that's impressive. I'm glad you kicked that NASTY habit. I smoked in college. It was cool to smoke and when you're drunk its' like a marriage of sorts. Drink in one hand cig in the other. I'll admit it: I used to smoke, go running, and smoke again. In college. In that order. shameless of me huh? I used to look forward to the after-run smoke. gosh I'm digging myself into in an embarassing grave. anyhow... no more smokie for me. none of it. I am a wine girl now. I don't like the hard alcohol much anymore. Just beer and wine Smile

I started smoking because I worked in a bar. I was constantly surrounded by it, and it ended up being the only way I could get away from the bar for 5 minutes. I used to smoke right before taking the PT test in the Army. And then have one right after finishing the 2 mile run. Stupid? Oh, you bet.
