Monkey Idiots 2012? (Read 3530 times)

I'm definitely not a super runner like  you all,  but I took 15 minutes off my monkey time!  3: 56:40, I think.  For me, it was awesome!  I am pretty happy about it, but think that my monkey days are OVER.  Way too hard for me.   My training partner, Meredith Smith (who was 2nd female this year and 3rd last year), ran w/o a garmin and chatted for the first 19 miles.  I was ordered to shut my pie hole (which I did), but she got to chat away.  It is unbelievable to run w/ someone like her.  She ran last year's monkey, went home and... ran more.  What a bit nut.

Congrats on taking 15 minnutes off!! That's awesome.

Meredith is so nice too. I don't get why her PR is only 3:15 and she can beat the shit out of me at Monkey. Must be something to do with those 20-30 miles in PWP every weekend, or whatever (and my one little burrito diverted 17 miler between Berlin and Monkey). But you're wrong, she was also 2nd last year because I was 3rd last year. I think she was 3rd the year before (my DNF year) She passed me around 22 instead of 20 last year though, about 15 minutes after I passed out for a little while.

How were you running with her the first 19 miles and you ran a 3:56?

How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?

Thanks for your nice compliment.   You are an awesome runner.  Hell no,  I was not running with her.  She ran with a really nice guy by the name of Eric, I think. She told me they were chatting up a storm and gave the run down of the whole fun run.    I guess she's allowed to talk????   She knew that I would give her crap about it, too.  She is a nice person and I like that she goes out there and just does her own thing.  It's pretty amazing.

I know that she's got a faster marathon in her, too.  Glad you noticed the discrepancy there.  I guess it'll happen when it's time.  I don't know what to say about that.  I am glad that she trains (really trains) with faster people than me.  I just get to tag-a-long on weekends and am really happy about it.  We've run together well over 100 times now, in just a year and a half.  She's a great cook too (had Thanksgiving at her place).

Candice, good job to you.  You sound like a really nice gal and a gracious competitor.

Eric isn't THAT nice Wink That was EricM (here in the swamp)...I think he ended up just a few seconds behind me.

Next year I won't run 19 minutes slower than my best at Monkey. I'm idiotically thinking of making it my goal fall race. I'm tired of sucking at it.

Mine included my mother-in-law asking to see the pics from Bay to Breakers. How many of you have ever told your mother-in-law, "just google 'naked fun' for those pictures of me"?

But she is cool. If my parents asked, that would be a totally different story.

EJ is correct. I believe the otherbelongs to Bash, and I think perhaps EJ can confirm that as well. It's either his or Mikey's.

Well.  If you told her that and she laughed and then didnt google it that's one thing.  If she later googled it, that is another.

No, she followed up. Then my brother-in-law decided my teenage niece had to see as well. They are also cool, but that was a bit weird.
