DB - 50k trail - 7/14 - DWD Devils Lake 50k - < 5 hours
Last year I broke my arm at this race - So goal #2 is finish without breaking anything - Goal #3 is to finish this week with 150 miles. This is not a goal race - Just a good hill workout for my Fall goal race of Glacial 50M.

Yes, I do "run in this." So should you. The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.
The Logic of Long Distance
Name Distance Date Race Goal Result Comments PaulyGram 70.3 7/15 1/2 Ironman (bronzeman?) 8:30 This is a first attempt at the distance, the real goal is to be able to do 7 min pace for the 1/2 marathon leg. sub 1:31:45
Pauly, is 8:30 a typo, am I missing something, or do you intend to take a full hour for the swim then average less than 10 mph on the bike before your run?? Will you be riding a unicycle or taking nap breaks before blasting the HM?

1:31:45 1/2 .. say 8:15 for T-1 and T-2 combined = 1:40. Leaving 6:20 for the swim and bike. How many bars are on route? It would be really cool if there was a swim up bar?
Been a long time since I swam a mile (1.2) and had no idea what was average. So I need a revision if the red headed bitch will allow it.
Projected temps 90
My indoor tri I swam 526 meters in 10 minutes so that's 3.2kph
I'll pretend I might be able to do 2.9kph for the tri. It's open water, but possibly with current (tide) 40:00
I rode a meter century 1 week ago at 21 mph, but think I can only do 18 mph due to hills, no drafting and not wanting to die on the run. so that's 3:00:00 (Just realized I projected a 100 mile ride not a 56 mile ride in the original estimate)
7 min pace for the 1/2 marathon = 1:31:00
so the new time with modern math and actual race distance used for an estimate is: 5hr 10mins?
No matter how much I train I suck at math.
MTA: Based upon DB's feedback, can I change the goal again? I have to assume there are bars in Wisconsin and a beer does sound good/
Don't forget to add time for T-1 and T-2 ~ 5:20 would give you 9 minutes for the 2.
Maybe you could pull a burley behind your bike and have beer whenever you want.
Is this in Door County?

Ok, based upon the rules I think I am officially out of MFEB contention this week. I can't ask for a 4th change.
The race is in Racine. I think Door County is the following weekend.
I can carry 4 bottles on the bike, so it makes sense that I could carry a couple with barley carbs.
I do agree that 5:20 is a better target.

Last year, I ran 3:09 for the half (28k) It wasn't too hot, which it is looking like it will be this year. 7hrs may be a soft goal if the weather cooperates.
Ditto here. #1 Goal is not to pass out from the heat.
