2010 Goals... (Read 1074 times)

So I've been thinking about the impending end of the racing season, and how excited I am to build my base up over the winter...today I went out on a tempo run and did 5k in 22:35...that makes me think that sub 20 is possible for 2010. I also want to really destroy my HM and M prs, which I'm pretty sure will actually be easier than my sub 20 scheme...

a) Am I nuts?

b) What are your goals for the impending new year?
Marathon: 3:30:00 Half: sub 1:40:00 10 Miles: sub 1:15:00 10k: sub 43:00 5k: sub 20:00 1 Mile: race one, I guess sub 6:00

a year ago at this time my 5k PR was 22:48.  So I know it can be done.

I took off 2:55 last year and 4:02 the year before.  So in 2010 I'll say I'd like to squeek under 18:35 so I can have a 5k at under 6:00 pace.  I'm trying to stay on the BadDawg improvement plan.

2010 goal = 4:59 for 1,500 meters.

skootr, not nuts. How did that tempo run feel? Comfortably hard but definitely not race pace? If so, that's a good sign. Go for it, and good luck!

Doug, if you want sub-6 pace for 5k, you only have to run 18:38.

My 2010 goals will be set after I race a few more 5k's and 10k's. Not giving up on my sub-18 and sub-38 goals for 2009 just yet.

But for the marathon, I want to run 2:55-something in Boston.

I want to remain strong in the summer.  That was my biggest downfall.

I had a great spring with a lot of improvement, but it makes me sick to see the improvement everyone else made over the summer by lots of miles.

Hey, small world.  Me too.

Goals for this year were to PR at multiple distances, run 2000 and run the half marathon distance 52 times.  Counting marathons (and marathon length training runs) as two, I'm at 48 halves so far.  As long as I stay healthy, I'm gonna make it.  Can you say "knock wood"?

Same for next year, and hope my shins don't turn to dust.

My goals for 2010 are to spend less time on RA and in the Swamp and to be a little less snarky.

MTA: Damn. Fucked that one up already. Oh yeah, and to clean up my fucking language.

MTA Again: Aw Fuck.

The usual.

1) Run a lot... mostly easy, sometimes hard.

2) Get really effing fast. Er.

There are still over two months left in 2009.  That's too early for me to think about 2010.
Run fast sometimes.

Don't let the bastard win.

a) Yes,but we already knew that.

b) Improve all my race times. It will be the 4th year of running for me.The first couple years were alot of slow miles. This marathon training round was my first with consistent speedwork.Hopefully, on Nov 22nd I'll find out that it helped.

This season is pretty much over - just 1 silly race yet to run.

If I am gonna hit goals for next year, I have to start doing the work now.

DB - where's the beer goal?  (or is that the 5000?).
He's all wrong for us, baby. I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man kept coming after you. Now we don't need no man like that in our lives.
