Running Skirts (Read 1660 times)

A Saucy Wench

I really like my skirts... course I also wear a skirt to work everyday. maybe i'm just weird like that! Wink
I think this might be why I dont like running skirts...I DONT wear skirts IRL because they dont really look that good on my body. So running skirts...meh. Whatever, not for me.

    <3 naps!

I should post more pics of me in my skirts after I run.
would you be covered in sweat like I am??

Spankies and Bodyglide fix chaffing. Running more just makes you look better in the skirt.
Alas no matter how much more I run your theory that I'll look better in a skirt will not work.

I wanted to respond (should have) to your stance a day or so ago but just wanted to say now that I am so very pleased for you and Candice offering up your opinions on this subject earlier. It's preference and all that, but y'alls is spot on. IMO, Skirts are tennis, not running apparel. That's my opinion (also running purist women that I dually noted) and it ought to be your's.

I almost never wear skirts outside of running (I'm a pants gal whenever possible--I think I own one dress that I wore to did's grandpa's funeral 3-4 years ago, and not once since)...there goes that theory. Wink

So you're more concerned with fashion than actual running? What are you, a metrosexual? Run your own run. I still don't get why some people get their panties in a knot over what OTHER people wear while running. Seriously, that shit went out after 8th grade. I couldn't care less what anyone else wears as long as they're out doing something...running, biking, playing tennis, whatever. Perhaps more people would get out and exercise if they didn't feel like some "purists" were looking down their nose at them and making irrelevant fashion judgements.

Maybe file yer complaint with the skirt-lover who started this thread? In general I bet most of us spend aproximately zero percent of our day worrying about what other people wear. But you shove a skirt in my face and ask me what I think? I think it looks like something that doesn't go with running. Yawn.

*shrugs* Kathrine Switzer ran her first NYC marathon in a dress. But what does she know...?

Actually, in her autobiography she talks about how it was societal pressure and her own fear (that she later realized was ridiculous) of not being perceived as "feminine enough" that drove her to wear a dress, makeup, and even jewelry in her first races.

I so love you mikey. Must be my, whatever the hell "metrosexuality" means. Tanya drooped the nuclear awhile back. Maybe it was in what I read of her blog. Yes It "tickled" me I guess, and I only wanted to compliment her for her stance that I so liked hearing.Maybe you should read that zoom, and jump her, not my shit!

Well, not really. That's what Switzer said, not me, in response to the way she used to dress for races. Like me, I'm sure Switzer could not care less if someone wants to wear a full-length ball gown and a tiara out for some intervals, if that's what gets them out the door. But, like some others, I think running skirts look ridiculous. And since, as Mikey pointed out, this thread was started for the sake of drumming up opinions about running skirts, that's my freaking opinion. Can I get a "sheesh"?
