Stop at the Ram (Illionis St across from St. Elmo's) on the way home and get a growler of their Total Disorder Porter. Heffeweisen or the IPA. All three are excellent as the brewer there knows his shit. Plus you can share with the missus since she seems partial to beer or was it just beer breath. Anyway. Just a thought.
And you can conveniently fill the thing on the way home for the forseeable future.
The rest of the micro breweries downtown serve low grade dishwater peddled as beer. Just so you aren't tempted to waste your money.

Some specific beers that I have had lately and would highly recommend:
Dogfish Head Chicory Stout
Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale
Weyerbacher Merry Monks Ale
Weyerbacher Fireside Ale
Lancaster Milk Stout
Bells Porter

Thunder's Bourbon Barrel Oatmeal Stout - 10 (This is my favorite beer ever, and I just so happened to make it...a select few here have had the pleasure of drinking it. They most likely won't say it's a 10....but I'll bet they say it's pretty good. It was made to my liking...so it tastes like I think a beer should taste)
Guinness - 9 (If you want beer better than this...you gotta make it yourself)
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout - 8.9 (The only think keeping this below Guinness is the steep price)
BBC's Jefferson Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout - 8.5 (Best Bourbon Stout that I didn't make...that I've had)
Smithwick's - 7.5 (Good solid brew, this is my switch hitter...if I need a change of pace)
Newcastle - 7 (Works in a pinch)
Blue Moon - 6.5 (Works if I'm feeling like a lighter beer)
Yuengling Black & Tan- 6.5 (Works if no Newcastle is available)
Those are probably the most common beers I drink. There are more I like...Yazoo's Dos Perros is a great solid local choice in my opinion.
Thunder smash!
Idiot
It was good enough that The Thunder chastised me for not sharing with my wife. I don't know if that counts as a 10 but it was pretty damn good.
Yes, I do "run in this." So should you. The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.
this is my favorite lately
My wife likes this with a slice of orange.

Yep, you introduced me to the place and I've been back there twice since....pretty much any time I have an excuse to go to a bar. They have several very fine brews.
The Bud American Ale is a solid 6-6.5. I was surprised when they intoduced it, it's hard to beat for the price (a beer has to be freakin' outstanding to get over a 7-8 from me, you have to leave room for the cream to rise to). For comparison I call regular Sam Adams a 7.5.

Look at the bright side. At least you didn't forget the "e".
And I'm just as stupid for copying it as you wrote it. Oh well.

Wow....and I spelled it correctly. Who'd have thunk it?

With New Castle being the common denominator between the two groups.
This may be the best thing ever to come out of Dogfish Head, and that is saying something.
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.
