White Rock Classic 50K
Goal: To finish, get in a long run
Elevation profile:
It should be kind of tough.
Super 5k, Lowell MA
Goal is always a PR, my history with this race says I come up way short. Even if I don't race well, I get to see a bunch of my Lowell running buds for the first time in ages. Kinda like pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training, it's always a good sign.
MTA: Some nice goals for the middle of the damned winter, good luck to all.

A) I'm paying for the race and assume that cost is figured in. B) It's beer.

Just messin wit ya. Seems to be the motif these days. That and I'm green with envy since we won't have beer at our race on Sunday. Fucking blue laws.
Right on Hereford...
we won't have beer at our race on Sunday. Fucking blue laws.
I thought blue laws only prevented you from buying alcohol, not drinking it. What kind of flippin' blue laws you got in your state?
If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be. I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila
Well in Jersey it's county-by-county. The county 40 minutes from Tater's race (mine) has blue laws.
I think the question is why can't the beer be bought before the race.
mr train you are a pain, your words - they make me go insane
they strike my ever-thinking brain like little drops of acid rain
oh, to my life you are a bane; crazy, mixed up, mr train - r2e
It's strange. Maybe the distribution of the alcohol in connection with the race fee is interpreted in Indiana to be a sale?
was making a side point about N.J.
Prince of Fatness
Yes. And this isn't a bar that has a liquor license. It's a park that is rented out and you have a permit to serve beer (I think).
MTA: Technically they aren't selling the beers, Nader.
There is a long dark road ahead of me.
Not sure of the exact wording but something about an organized event serving alcohol on Sunday + its on the grounds of a HS + there will be teens running. Damn excise guys would have a field day. Its Indiana. We always drove the five miles to Michigan on Sundays to go to bars when in college. Loved living close to the border but its a dumb set of laws.
BYOB is cool and this will be arranged but its not as sweet as provided post run by the organizers (see any Monkey marathon report for further details)
Glad we are back on solid subjects - racing and beer. Now all we need is boobs and all things will be right.

I thought I had the toughy this weekend but as usual Trent eclipses me and my IT skills anyway as the link won't work I'm doing a 13.5 mile fell race
I'll be at the same race as the L Train playing the part as the unhinged caboose. A sub 1:17 would be nice.
Louisville Lovin' the Hills 50 K
50k trail race
Louisville, KY, Saturday
Goal: First ultra and first trail race for me, in snow and mud no less, so a time goal seems prickly. How about...Sub-10 face plants.
Trent, I was thinking about the first time you did K2K2K and you shoved a reeses cup in your mouth and told me my hair looked nice. When I think of this I try to talk myself into thinking maybe ultras aren't so bad. Because I freaking love reese cups. Have fun.
Taters, suck it up and run in the snow. Kick that dudes ass.
You too L Train.
All of that being said, I expect this kind of behavior from these idiots... racing in the middle of the gddmn winter.... but not from the rest of you.
Good luck anyway.
I'm gonna drink beer and watch football.
How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?

Terrific climbs! Don't get "stuck" at in the turn-around point.
MTA: damn html
What does Tunis make?
Wow, that's like mountains.
And what a coincidence how similar the peaks on the second half are, to the first half.
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
