Pretty sure that's just the Bacardi bat. Nice try, though.

Sunday - NJ Trail Series 10 Miles No time goal, this is my first trail race. I may DNS if there is too much snow. Main goal is to meet Flourcity and enjoy a couple of free beers with him post race.

Any beer request?

Cold will do, and that shouldn't be a problem on Sunday. You mentioned you had Long Trail last time. That works.
I plan on being there unless the snow is ridiculous. I'm thinking that we'll get 6 inches max, and since I am not all that fast I can let the fast people knock down the snow.
There is a long dark road ahead of me.

once again, i didn't run the time i was hoping for, but i'm starting to think that this particular track just isn't for me. track spikes on a wood track just don't equate to a smooth stride. anyway...
ran 15:35.61 for my first 5k PR in a little over 2 years and qualified for the Conference meet. previous PR was 15:59... also as a side-note, i get a ~19 second altitude conversion taken off of that time, which is kind of cool.

February 7, ......Surf City Marathon...... goal: meet Dopple Bock
Good luck Ilene hope your injury has cleared, why do the names of the races you run always sound so evocative?
Wow. Holy crap. That was tough. But, all in all, a success. 5:16, 7th OA, and didn't get hurt. All in all, a good day.
We've Got Big Hills
Well, that was tough. Slow. Icy. Slushy. Deeply muddy and wet. Soul crushing even. Set out to run the 50k, settled for the 15 miler. Wow. The winner is a 4:00 50k runner, or so. He finished today in 5:05. I believe that some 60-70% of the 50k runners either took a DNF or a 15 mile finish. Speaking with many folks postrun, this is considered the hardest 50 in the East (who knew?) and today was the hardest, slowest day on record. Dude.
So: Epic Fail for me. 15 miles. 3:34, or so.
But fun!
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

Regarding Indiana alcohol laws, you can't buy alcohol on Sundays to drink in the safety of your own home, but it is perfectly legal to go to a restaurant and get shitfaced.....leaving you the option to drive home.
2012 goals: Fastest race times since 2006.
Louisville Lovin' the Hills 50 K 50k trail race Louisville, KY, Saturday Goal: First ultra and first trail race for me, in snow and mud no less, so a time goal seems prickly. How about...Sub-10 face plants.

What Trent said above is on the money. (Nice pics, btw!) Really emotional day out there for me, for some reason. This one deserves a race report, but in the meantime...I finished my first 50k/ultra and first trail race in an unconscionable 9:30. (That's nine and a half hours to you and me, Russ.)
Lads and lasses, that is a looong time to be doing anything, much less 'racing' (non-DB/Purdey division). Hell, I may have finished last. Or close to it, most likely.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, course. Went hours in the second half without seeing another person. But as I told Trent, once or twice I did hope to be mauled or eaten by a bear. No dice.
MTA: Only one face plant.
