A Saucy Wench

Apparently, the lights went out twice during Beyonces' rehearsals, but they never fixed the problem.

Imagine that place if all the lights went out?

But on the upside it coincided nicely with my post dinner nap.

We can do this all day. No.

While I will acknowledge there are lots of annoying and even despicable people playing NFL football, there is nobody who achieves the combination of phony, preachy, glory-to-God,  hypocritical, overrated, overblown, nauseating bullshit.

I blame CBS for actually putting the interview on tv where Shannon Sharp asked him about the 2000 murder case and his non-answer started that "God has never made a mistake..." etc. and I blame myself for not turning it off. But still. Just go away.

          Runners run.

I did not care who won ... apperently New Olreans infranstructure is crumbling and can not provide reliable electricity flow.

I was suprised by how little Beyonce actually sang in the song "Single Ladies" - I am thinking she has to work on her cardio as she was too out of breath.

The Go Daddy commercial was just gross ... stupid and unappealing - Although, I guess I will remember it ~ wanting to throw up, but remember it.  The biggest waste of money was Black Crown by Bud ?  Who makes the stupid apple beer that was advertised?  I have worked on farms, I like and respect farmers, but I really did not understand the Dodge comercial.

I am happy to have another season in the books ... onward to March madness!

I think the Dodge commercial was meant to pander to people who identify with farmers, are farmers (obviously), or have friends and family who are farmers. It seems like Chevy and Ford own the "middle america middle/lower middle class" demographic, and Dodge is trying to get their share of the pie. They do this of course by playing a speech from 35 years ago, when farming was assuredly completely different than it is now, with some cool photos. I can't deny it's emotional impact and how well done it was, but seriously, how much more likely are you to buy a car because someone said "Your profession does a really hard thing, good job!" Ok, cynicism over.

I guess I only have the Cubs to look forward to until September now

No way man, that commercial was designed to play to people (conservatives) who idealize a way of life that passed maybe 25-50 years ago. I bet most of these people live in the city or suburbs and work a 9-5 desk job. This way of life has very little to do with the people who actually farm. If they were interested in pandering to farmers, then the people in the commercial would have been Latino, poor, and likely of dubious immigration status.

This is kind of what I meant when I said "people who identify with farmers" but you said it way better.

Wait -- disagreeing is more FUN! I am glad that you also thought it was a crappy commercial.

                      Fast is better than long

I liked it too, but agree, it's because I am nostaglic, redneck, like pick-ups, etc... That and Paul Harvey's voice is so persuasive, calming and endearing. If he told me he had to take my house from me tomorrow, I'd smile and hand him the keys today. I did see another commentary on the commercial and they likened it to hearing Johnny Cash do a PSA. Who could possible not react to those voices?

I react negatively to Paul Harvey's voice, but that's probably why we are on different poles of the political spectrum.

I can't unhear that nasty kissy-slurping noise, cranked up over the bar's stereo system. Audio ipecac.

                                I like Paul Harvey's voice.

I like the commercial's imagery and beautiful photography.

And I like the words Paul Harvey said.

Could have been a commercial for any number of things. Could have been for Monsanto, which would have been bad. Could have been for locavore movements, which would have been interesting. Could have been for farmers themselves, which would have been good.

Not sure what the hell it had to do with a truck.

I cannot find any fallacy in that it appeals to those who "idealize a way of life that passed maybe 25-50 years ago".
