2000 miles of despotic sighing

NFL 2012 (Read 761 times)

Probably not fun being a Packers fan this morning, awful call.

    Was it all a dream?

Definitely not.  Absolutely unreal.  Sadly, the NFL won't have the guts to overturn the result, and also, since the Packers are community owned, this might not even be the tipping point that brings back the real refs.

They even gave the packers a kicking ball to use during they're 2pt conversion attempt.  Fuckers.

I'm in the business of misery...

        I chuckled.

This is sad, especially since Football is why Vegas sports books exist. Somebody should get a broken leg soon.

          I chuckled.

Heard on the radio this morning that something like $15 million of betting has shifted in the US as of this morning. More like $150 million globally.

May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your SPF30, may the rains fall soft upon your sweat-wicking hat, and until you hit the finish line may The Flying Spaghetti Monster hold you in the hollow of His Noodly Appendage.

The Packers got robbed, that's obvious. The long time Seahawks fan however, probably thinks they deserve a bad call going their way. After all, it was the regular refs that blew the calls in 2006 that gave the Super Bowl to the Steelers.

                Fast is better than long

I may have a running analogy that describes the NFL situation.

In highschool, I was robbed of a victory because of the decision of the finish judge. I quickly found my coach and told him that I was sure I won. He said, "you did." I asked if he was going to do anything about it, he said, "No, it was my fault for making it that close"

While the last play decided the final score, did Green Bay win the rest of the game?

yeah, see -- that's not really how "winning" works, pauly. the winner is the one who scores the most points or, you know, crosses the finish line before the others. seems to me you have residual issues around your running coach being a pansy, and i am sorry for you and all, but you're going to need to take that someplace else.

And, also, the "NFL situation" is that the officiating is sub par, arbitrary completely destroys the flow of the games and is ruining the product. The point isn't that Green Bay was robbed--although they definitely were--the point is the product on the field just sucks.

Not sure how some race from high school has fuck all to do with that.

Ah yes, the party line of Bears/Vikes fans everywhere.  With the parody in the NFL these days, it's tough to always win big enough that the game isn't in jeopardy in the 4th quarter.

There were two other terrible calls during the Seahawks "comeback", that if the officials would have gotten right, the touchception would likely have never been an issue (the very questionable roughing the passer nullifying a Packer interception and the mindblowing 32yd pass interference call on 2nd & 26).  It's this level of consistently terrible officiating that NFL fans as a whole are pissed off about.

Needless to say, the Schneider household was not a very happy place on Monday evening... the absence of a police visit almost makes me think that the neighbors don't really care about us.

                        Fast is better than long

I am a dyed in the wool Bears fan; unless Pittsburgh is playing.

I also think that Green Bay is the best team in the Division and the Bears are only also rans. So I can be objective if I do say so myself.

I also think the refs suck and it does diminish the game. It screws up the continuity with the long reviews. It seems like there is a definite inconsistency about what was a "foul" hit last year vs. this year. That means that teams willing to push the envelope have an advantage to those who are playing by last years standards. I don't think it makes the game unwatchable, but it is noticable.

I thought that Green Bay really stalled on a number of first half series. I think their long series was 45 yds. And I think this is more what I was referring to. I don't think fumbles make it easy for you to still win.

Yes Green Bay got robbed and I do hope it doesn't affect the end of the season for them, but why make it close?

I'll ask again, do you think Green Bay won the first 59 minutes?

MTA: Having been reminded of the other two questionable calls, Green Bay did win the rest of the game, they just couldn't overcome the collective bad calls.

The N.F.L. needs to settle the lockout, immediately. But it also needs to do some serious self-examination about how it could have made such catastrophic decisions over a relatively small amount of money. And that examination must begin at the top, with Mr. Goodell. He has failed in the first responsibility of any league commissioner, which is to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the game.
