That looks like fun. All my local NYE downtown event had was a shooting.

I am not racing. I'm still gimping on my hamstring after Tucson.

But in Important News, I'm registered again for the seeded division at Bay to Breakers. Who wants to join me?

I'll be running in Hasher Rick's trail race this weekend with as little effort as possible.  Weather will be great, and a little snow on the trail will make things interesting.

The race is four laps of a 6+mi loop, so I'll aim to run each lap in about 1hr, with a nice little toddy break after each lap where I will ponder whether to run another lap.

I'm resolved to not let the race have a big impact my nascent marathon training plan next week, so DNF is a good possibility.

Nads, still in for the HM?

Planning on it.  I signed up basically to catch up with Hasher Rick and the Mrs.  Looking forward to meeting you, man.

Well then! Plenty of time to find just that right g-string.

Putting on a trail run in the morning. Will probably jog it.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

                      SELFISH, like you.

So, seeded means you get to start up front? What's sub-seeded? Next row?

Sub-seeded looks pretty relaxed for masters runners. I thought masters runners were supposed to be faster.

Heh. Yeah, last year I started right behind Meb Keflezhigi. Maybe 100ish seeded. A few hundred subseeded, I guess, but the start is very wide -- subseeded is still essentially at the very front, in a race with 50,000 odd. Seeded and subseeded also get their own corral entry and warmup area, which is very nice. No portapotty contention, either. The rest of the race is a mob scene.

Yup. Plus at the start there is a tradition of throwing tortillas. The air is absolutely filled with them. That year I did it, it was raining, so I was getting slapped with wet tortillas right and left.

1:07:05 or something close to that.  Pleased.  Cardiovascularly this was done at conversational pace, but the legs were done.  Good.  It's usually easier to bring my legs back in line than my lungs.
