HobbyJogger & HobbyRacer
Jogged it. Afterward we went out and ran on the beach for several miles, which involved clambering over or under (mostly over) approximately seven bajillion trees. Fortunately the scenery was fabulous.
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
Heh. Yeah, last year I started right behind Meb Keflezhigi. Maybe 100ish seeded. A few hundred subseeded, I guess, but the start is very wide -- subseeded is still essentially at the very front, in a race with 50,000 odd. Seeded and subseeded also get their own corral entry and warmup area, which is very nice. No portapotty contention, either. The rest of the race is a mob scene.
Nice to know that I could start as a subseed and actually enjoy the race. Once we get moved to Seattle next year and it's a shorter trip.
1:07:05 or something close to that. Pleased. Cardiovascularly this was done at conversational pace, but the legs were done. Good. It's usually easier to bring my legs back in line than my lungs.
Good work, Ennay!
Good going, ennay!

OCD If you don't laugh ...
nice run Ennay!
I dont have an official time, but I did fail to DNF. I think my finish time was around 4:27. (My log reflects less because I stopped my garmin during an extended break for refueling.) The course was dicey / mad icy.
The screw shoes I made last night were useless due to 2 screws digging into my foot. At least I figured this out before the race started. I switched to trail shoes which were great, except when they were not (2 good spills).
Bruises aside, I've concluded slower marathons dont hurt as much as when you're running for a faster time. I no longer hate the distance.
Overall, a really fun race, and nice job by Rick and his crew!
I dont have an official time, but I did fail to DNF.
DNDNF? Good job. Sounds like an adventure.
Way to go, Ennay!

Congrats Ennay. Also, log-stalking you I see there are some nifty goal widgets.

If only I could remember which of them are public and which are private. Maybe I need to request an special format from the overlord so I dont look quite so psychotic.
HEY lagwagon - was that your first marathon? or just the first in the log? eitherway congrats! I would have bailed on an icy marathon.

So catwoman, how was running through LA city streets in the middle of the night? Glad to see you made it back alive.
It was my second marathon ever, but the first on trails. I ran Philly in '06 (3:37 or so) which was before I joined here. Since turning 40 means a clean slate (and most of my PRs were set 20+ years ago) I haven't bothered to log them.
I dont feel marathon sore today (no problem with stairs) I'll take a couple days off anyway and get back to Pfitz next week.
And I wont do another ice race ever again (if I can help it), talk about a world of suck. I'm lucky that my bumps and bruises all seem non running critical, and the minor one to my head may even improve something up there.
Key thing for me is that I feel like I pwn'd the marathon distance yesterday, boosting the confidence for when I run a real one this spring.
SELFISH, like you.
Ilene, is it against the rules to let Eric's poll gadget pick the this week?
Milktruck say relentless
rules? we have rules? you are asking me to not flex my god-like power and authority given to me to pick the the coveted imaginary fucking cartoon ?? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha HAH!
Ennay, it was seriously surreal! the race went off late, to the WORST version of the star spangled banner I have ever heard (and I've heard some doozys! then down dark deserted city streets, up steep hillsides to Dodger stadium, running like zombies around the perimeter of the empty parking lot, (several times, we did 4 miles looping in the parking lot) then actually in the stadium running on the grass of the ball field under the full bright kleig lights! Then back through the dark city to the jeers of the homeless huddled against the cold in store- front doorways to the downtown finish line by the Metro tracks.
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

Everybody (even AmoresPerros) did well this weekend and exceeded expectations, but the one head and shoulders above the rest is the awesome lagwagon, who crushed his goal even slipping on ice and sustaining minor (non-running related body parts) damage to himself! Congratulations lagwagon! You have earned the coveted imaginary fucking cartoon again!
Sounds...fun? Did you get flipped off? Because I did on my quiet country 10K in the state known for being so polite the politeness is annoying.
Woohoo lagwagon!!!! Congratulations and bravo!
Couldn't tell if we were flipped off or not. I tell you a finish line festival at midnight in downtown LA when you are cold and sweaty is not very enticing even with a Sierra Nevada beer tent.
