NFL 2009 (Read 1428 times)

Prediction: This is the year that cements Peyton Manning as the best quarterback of his generation.

is there any debate he's a top 3 QB all-time?  where you want to put Brady and Montana is kind of irrelevant to me.  Those are the best 3 ever.

the dude has 4 MVP awards now.

as a long time NFL fan I have to say 2009 has more good QBs then I have ever seen at one time.  There are probably 10 QBs worthy of playing in the pro bowl.  Here is a frame of reference on QB play... in 1973 the leading passer for the Packers had 2 TD passes.  On the whole freakin' season.  Two!

2012 goal = 4:59 for 1,500 meters. (before then just get healthy)

If McNabb goes Kolb will be the starter, not Vick.  If it were me I would trade McNabb while there still is some value.  I think Kolb is ready.  If we got draft picks we could use them on the defense.  We need a lot of help there.

It makes me laugh whenever I hear the Philly radio stations wanting to drive McNabb and Reid out of town when all they have done is gone to the playoffs just about every year. I have to say though, McNabb looked McAwful the last two games against the Cowgirls.

I guess I can't argue this too much, but it's a QB league now, and specifically an offensive league.  The powers that be want offense, because us dumb Americans can't sit through a 10-3 defensive game like we used to be able to (sigh).  Rule changes and rule enforcement over the years have dictated this.  Marino would have feasted on today's rules.

MTA: I'm not arguing Manning, who I just mioght put at #1 (sigh), more the point overall on all the great QBs today.

So in other words you're calling a Colts SB Championship?

So in other words you're calling a Colts SB Championship?

Yep. (That's what it will take for him to be defined as the greatest of his generation, instead of more or less the same as Brady.)

No. Fucking. Way.  At least 4 of the 7 other remaining teams are better than the Colts.

Ah, typical Pats fan delusion. Indy is the favorite.

Not delusional - eyes wide open, and in some regard I could give a rat's ass what happens from here out.   I already gave Manning the benefit of the doubt in the QB discussion, which cements my neutrality and positions me as an expert in all things football.

As evidence of my supremacy, I submit to you my 15th place position (out of 16) in my playoff pool.

Heh. I have no objectivity. Mainly I'm giving myself a reason to watch and also stir Mikey up. But seriously, this is Peyton's chance.

But that would still leave him a championship down to Brady with the results not yet in (both guys are probably 2/3 of the way through their careers.)  And what if somebody like Philip Rivers runs off the next 3 Superbowl championships?  His numbers to this point in his career are better than Manning's (or is he a different generation?)

My prediction is this year will cement absolutely nothing in the who's the best quarterback debate.

No clue  on what's going to happen in the NFC, except Saints are going to put up 40+ points against the Cards

                          Well, that's the safe prediction.

Rivers--I'd have to say next generation. Rivers and Brees play the way they do because of Manning.

Brady had a good run on a great team. Manning redefined what was possible at the position. That's what makes him great. If he wins two Superbowls on top of this--with a totally different receiving corps--there will be no argument.

There's something I don't like about Rivers.  He has a funny throwing motion.

You have to give Brady more credit than that.  What have any of those receivers he had when they were good done after they left?  And there was never even a great back - I guess you could say Dillon was good.  Point being I think Brady was better than having "a good run on a great team".  Save that definition for Dilfer or Doug Williams or Terry Bradshaw.

And by your definition Randall Cunningham with the Eagles was "great", and so is/was Michael Vick.
