Jill_B -- 1/2 marathon -- Wild Half -- Wildwood, NJ -- 1:45 or faster*
*Some of the course is on sand, I'm not sure how much, if it's half or more, I'd like to run it in 1:50 or faster.
I'm so pissed... we may get hit with "severe" weather on Sunday. This is gonna suck. Or be shut down.
Bring it on.

Looking at the finish times in this race, it is one hard trail.
mta: 2000+ ft elevation gain and the temps should be in the 90s.....maybe I better make that goal time 3 1/2 hours.
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

I don't understand weather reports
Sunny 104°Lo 68°
more
Hot with blazing sunshine 102°Lo 67
When the prediction is 104 they call it "Sunny" for a mere 102, they say 'Hot with blazing sunshine"

I'd like to say faster, but this is hilly, I'm out of shape, and it's only one week after Ragnar. Anything under 23 would be fine by me...

Don't forget the sunscreen. And the burka.
Current Goals: Run
This was what the Wild Half sent out this morning:
Yes we are fully aware of the impending Hurricane Irene. We have been monitoring the situation very closely and will continue to do so now until race day.
The race will take place rain or shine. However the safey of the runner is first and foremost in our mind and if we feel that the weather will in any way jeopardize our participants (and that can even mean during the race), we will make any and all necessary course changes or cancellations based on the weather conditions.
We will update you via email, on the website and on our FACEBOOK page of any changes that will take place. We will do our best to update you prior to race day however that will be dependent upon the weather and the direction it takes.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

So, I have no idea if I'll be running this weekend. Dang it.
Free beach camping!
The process is the goal.

Just found out I'm running a race Friday. I volunteered for a race earlier this year and received free registration for the next race run by the same group. I forgot all about it until I saw a mention in the local paper yesterday. My two 5Ks this year have been slow, 27:13 and 26:19. I'll sandbag a little bit and say 25:30. Plus it will likely be a very small race so I might as well say top 10 finish also.

The tangents are moot.
Set the bar low. Crawl under it.

At 4 PM today they announce if they are cancelling this thing or not...
Count me out. My race was just cancelled.

So.... I have to decide between the BLD RED Swamp SNGLT, and my MNRW team SNGLT for this weekend.
Decisions, decisions... The gauzy thin white MNRW SNGLT ends up looking like a wet t-shirt contest in summer races, but I found the BLD RED SNGLT can weigh about 5 lbs. once I sweat through it.
Life is so complicated!
I vote for the lightweight wet t-shirt contest look.
It's not as aesthetically pleasing as one might think on a gray haired, balding, 40 year old. Just sayin'.
