Congrats! If Zach G. runs a 4:15, the course is slow.

Unrealism unrealized.  6:46 and happy to be off the mountain, or at least out of the snow, mud, and ice pellets falling from the trees.

Zack Gingerich showed up and ran a 4:15 just to show that it's not the course that's slow – It's me.

Anyone find that the RA map thingy is overly optimistic about upsy-downsy calculations?  It's saying 11,000' but that feels pretty high.

Can't tell, your map is private. By default, if you're importing from Garmin, you'll get the Garmin data, which is wacky. But there's a trick to let RA get its own elevation data. Click on the elevation icon to turn off elevation, click again to turn it on, and it will show data based on looking up elevations from your lat / longs, rather than flaky Garmin data. Of course if your Garmin has you on top of the neighboring peak, there's always that.

I wasn't able to run 20 miles either.  I am sick and wiped out.  But tomorrow is a holiday, so maybe I'll try agin.  Dead

I thought he was talking about the RA elevation data, and that is what my response is about.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Big PR, and sounds like you'll only get faster.

Oops.  Sorry for keeping my cards so close to my chest!  It should be viewable now.

The track looks about right, but the altitude seems about double.  I exported the GPX data to GPSies.com and its calculation gave a more realistic altitude range: 2,372 feet (Altitude from 282 feet to 2,654 feet) ; Total climb 5,449 feet; Total descent 5,446 feet.

That sounds a lot closer to what a back-of-the envelope calculation says it should be (depressingly so).  Maybe RA is listing total elevation change for each of the two fields.

And yeah.  Zach is fast.  Even cooler, however, was the chance to run with the record holder for Nolan's 14 – John Robinson.  And yeah, he whupped me too, but not by such a wide margin.

As of the last report, the entirety of the course is ankle deep-mud and/or shin-deep water.

                goal = finish

Turns out I learned this morning that the course was dry. My dry course goal had been seven hours even. I got a 6:48:01. That is a five minute PR for the 50 K distance on a long course, and nearly a one hour improvement over last year on this course when I was gimpy. So, a good day for my race.

In it for the long run..

Good job, Trent!  I'm surprised the course was dry.

                    2013 Goals:

I did not hit my time or place goal.

The year has just started.  Plenty of time to bury that time.

                      Run  trails.

Rejected: I need a time goal; or a placement.

Heh. Busy week, just now seeing this.

I'd posted my goal in the other place, the place that shall not be named. But I echoed that goal in my result report Smile

                          Good going, Trent!

Pauly, still sub 5 is nice!

1:43:39. But I did win my age group. Pays to be old!

                              4:44:33.  So 3 seconds off.

Lost my group at 23 Sad  but convinced some walking that they could surely beat me to the finish in the last couple miles... And had some annoyed runners ask if I was going to talk the whole race which is great because I am pinged for being one of the less talkative pace group leaders and have been trying to work on that.

but I am not in the results.  Not anywhere. Name, finishing time, bib, Chip mats, That should be fun to sort out.  Look, I was holding a big sign saying 4:45, group of runners around me, might have seen me; I was clearly there...

Sure glad this was a pacing gig and not a PR race.

                              Fast is better than long

With all the results in early on a Monday, it's time to award the MFEB Eight ball.

                                It's me, just kidding.

We had a lot of close calls with goals but only four runners met their goals.

                                • jnoldfather on the relay placing 3rd at the ice dome in Milwaukee
                                • AP sandbagging his 5K time and poorly marking the course, potentially for a competitive advantage since he was dope free (medically speaking)
                                • Trent, killed his 50K and I did see that he claims to have posted a goal, but I still maintain "Ternt Sucks!"
                                • Wing, ran a big PR and dealt with pains and twinges
                                • We can throw heatherruns in as well, since she did come damn close and the MFEB is arbitrary.

I'd also like to point out that we had AG Winners again. Great job flarunner and Tea Olive.

I really hate to do this because Wing had a great performance and doesn't suck, but I can't ignore a 1 hour improvement on the same course year over year.

MFEB Eight ball: Trent <-- We should add a new arbitrary rule to prevent this kind of thing

                                HM: Wing

Great racing everyone, now reload and do it again.
