1st 2 mile race. Definite PR.

No idea what was going to happen with today's race, but thanks to Don Sullivan and telling me to go after 1:30. Hills felt easier this year and felt comfortable with pace. It's only 13.1 miles right, let's count it down. I enjoyed the group of 3 kids who kept meeting us and doing Hi-5's. Also committed that if I caught and passed a runner, they are not allowed to pass me back. Woo-Hoo plan worked and fastest mile was my last.

Legs felt super good and still feel super good, I just didn't have my top gear nor anyone to race with to whittle more time off. Perhaps some specific training might do me some good.
Pleased... especially on a warm day.
The newb, JBerger owned the day though.
I will seek top 3 Masters, tho I'm a gdmn slacker
Was running for third place behind Pete Newton (sub 30 type) and Dan Garbutt (3.47 1500). Ran fairly steady: 1km 2.59, 3km 8.55 then Pete and Dan went off to run 14.35ish. Outsprinted some V35 from 150m out after literally staring at him over my shoulder for 20m before grinning like a wildman and running away. Psyched! Racing's fun. PB but wasn't really working hard. That's also a 3km PB in there.
PR!!! Got to 5k in 19:30 and held on to a 19:50 second 5k. Felt fab afterward. Time to train for a specific 10 k to see why I can really do!

Throwing out an accurate time prediction is tough on this one. At first I was thinking I may be able to pull off a sub 7:00, but after several training runs on the course, I'm thinking even 7:20 is aggressive. I will be playing this mostly by feel, A+ goal = <7, B goal = 7:20, C goal = <8:00.

Now that I'm all recovered from my steamy DNF at Boston I need a fresh, new disappointment. This should deliver.
I like running alone.

GO WALT!!
Finished 2 mile race in 14:03, possibly under 14:00, won't know until Friday.
I'm having some muscle or tendon problems in both legs due I think to a serious increase in training pace along with more miles. I ratcheted back the miles this past weekend (basically stopped running). In comparison, the Sunday before last Wednesday's 5k I ran a 21 mile training run.
Last night I started interval training with a group. I was in the fast group and was barely able to hang on at 6:51 pace on 8 400s.
Tonight I managed 6:50 for the first mile and felt like I could fly. Second mile I felt a little more mortal but it was a great night at 71F and a really flat course.
