2000 miles of non-shield-bearing grammarians

Hey SurfNRun, I invented a new game. Wanna play? (Read 6190 times)

Non ducor, duco.

Dude. 23:08 in my 5K today. Won my AG. Probably shouldn't matter to me but does because Im just that way.

    I'm back.

Nice! And you went out fast. Sweet.

      Runners run.

Very nice! Where did the shoe problem happen this time?

        Non ducor, duco.

My insole came up about at the turn-around. The cool thing was that since I had the experience before, I knew it wouldn't do any good to stop. I also had to tie my shoes at about a half a mile. Stupid. The insole thing is a silly but still valid example of Obsessor's comments about experience. Shoe manager that sold them to me told me he had to glue his in. DH told me not to wear them, but who ever listens to their spouse, right?

          I'm back.

I generally get demoralized by stupid little things going wrong (ditched tunes b/c of battery failure, ditched 4 miles of my run today b/c of low battery on Garmin), so I can really appreciate the determination to fight through the issues and come in with a solid time and AG win.

I just decided if it's not one thing, it's probably gonna be another. I wanted to kill this guy next to me today that kept hacking and spitting. He hung out to the left of me for like forever. I finally told him that if spit got on me I would kick his ass. Then I sped up to get away from him.

              I'm back.

Then I sped up to get away from him.
That's the spirit. I've found focused anger does well in the shorter events.

Agreed. I like to think of it as "embracing the hate." I run best when I'm angry. The anger focuses me. Wonder if that's something to worry about...meh.

Just because running is simple does not mean it is easy.

If ever there was a case for HTFU its this, you bailed out of a run because of flat batteries! I could understand if they were in a pacemaker but in a Garmin?

Old age is when you move from illegal to prescribed drugs.

um, did he actually say he bailed or just got cranky? Nice runnin' Andahuff

I suppose we need to know what "ditched 4 miles of my run" means, I assumed the run was shortened. We had a short on a radio programme which was an interview between a failed Kamakazi pilot and his commander. The commander went through the missions in the log book I can't remember them all but some of the excuses were, forgot headband headband slipped over eyes had headache got lost in cloud around Mount Fuji

Ha, my bad - I didn't see that "ditched 4 miles of my run". Therefore it wasn't there, or I didn't see it because my headband that wasn't there slipped over my eyes and blocked my view.

It was the lame excuse that I was looking for. I know the mileage and the roads, but this was my 52nd mile after a 40 mile week, the weather was a little warm, the sun was in my eyes, etc. I had planned 22 miles, but ran 18.

Not to mention that you have a baby about to drop any second at home and all the stress of that!
