Ibuprofen, bah (Read 2416 times)

Isn't ibuprofen also an anti-inflammatory? E.g., if one has arthritic knees, or is on the verge of ITBS, won't an anti-inflammatory stave it off? That's the primary reason I would take it, generally 400 mg before a long run, especially when I'm coming off an injury. But what you're saying makes sense and I'm going to think about it.

Yes, Ibu is an intiinflammatory, but it generally will not prevent an overuse injury.

I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

After your recommendations I have avoided taking ibuprofen ... I'd rather have beer.
Well don't be taking Tylenol with your drinking. Especially if you drink alot. It can cause liver damage.

Next they'll be saying that running is bad for you! Shocked Oh wait, they already do. I try to avoid drinking while running and running while drinking. Two bad habits are that ok by themselves but doing together is really asking for trouble.

Oh yeah, it'll kill ya. But if you are a regular drinker and a Tylenol taker, you run an extra risk of the Tylenol damaging your liver. All I'm sayin' is, if you drink and take Tylenol, please, stop taking Tylenol.

If it comes down to Tylenol or drinking, which one would you give up?

I never take OTC medicine no matter what's wrong with me. It's called HTFU.
