My greatest disappointment (Read 392 times)

Milktruck say relentless

This trip to be attacked by Monkeys was like a dream come true!  Seeing so many of you running celebrities in actual meat space and getting to hug on you was unforgettable!

I can only surmise that the universe has a reason for keeping some of you out of my embrace, and that is to force us back together next time!

In it for the long run..

Ilene is over 60, which is incredible.  I did meet her but didn't get to talk to her as much as I wanted to.   She ran a great Monkey and won our old lady age group (if there had been such a thing.....).

My favorite thing was (finally) approaching the finish line and having Dallas Smith the Elder waiting for me with my wood/medal!  I thought it was a mirage.

I met her and got a real life Ilene hug. It was everything I imagined and more.

Indeed it was, a life changing event.

I met her but did not know I was meeting her. Missed way too many swampies, and didn't really get to party. Boo.

Yeah, I mentioned to Mikey that your MIA-ness was a disappointment for me.  But it's for a very good cause, so you get a pass this one time.

I met her husband first who was very proudly bragging about her Monkey finish time. She seemed a little embarrassed by it all. I didn't think to get a hug. Dammit.

I weep for you my friend.

The "almond joy" creamer I inadvertently put in my coffee this morning. Ugg.

That doesn't really sound like something you should be doing at all, never mind in an office environment.

Well, I took a picture of everybody.  I just happened to see a picture of Ilene standing around before the Monkey.  That was my AHA moment and realizing I took a lot of pics of her.

Speaking of R2E.  R2E was very much in attendance ... laughing, joking and having a generally fine time.  But I'm from Nashville and I know what Waffs looks like.

Dallas Smith met you at the end with some wood.  Heh.

For real question- how does this happen? Everyone finishes in a field and drinks beer together and then goes to mafioza's or whatever. How do people not meet?

Plus Mafiaozas was crowded and half the group was inside and half the group was around the fire pit.  And moving from one to the other was tough.

I have met R2E.  So if she is Ilene then the universe just imploded.  I am still typing, therefore R2E=/= Ilene

?  How did you manage that ...

I flew the whole way to Nashville and was there for 4 days and failed to meet Ileneforward.

That's wrong on a bunch of levels but I'm going to let it slide since I am probably losing something in translation. I wish you people would just give it up and speak English.

What were not good for you?

No, no, no.  I just went over there to read and check it out.  I'm not hardcore, and I can barely keep up with this group most of the time.  It is pretty funny to read some of it.  The Swamp was on the verge of implosion?

I didn't get to meet Ilene, therefore no hug either.  I think next year, I'll just need to start hugging everyone and hope one of them is Ilene.

There was a point in my life when I ran. Now, I just run.

Better yet - He thought they should come back next year, so he could run ...

Oh yeah, several times. It's been a while though--I'm sure we're over that phase in our history and we're good to go now. Probably.
