Jets are releasing Thomas Jones. That's a bit of a surprise to me. I know they have Washington coming back and Greene but RBs always seem to get nicked up over the course of a year and they rely heavily on their rushing attack. I think Dallas is doing the right thing by holding on to Jones, Barber and Choice.
Would love to see Jones in a time share with Mendenhall. He doesn't have the wear on him that some of the other 30 year old backs have. He's probably looking for decent money though.
Jones is #24 in NFL history in carries.
I think this is a "better 1 year too early than 1 year too late" move. A $3,000,000 bonus due to him on top of base salary is a lot of change.
Someone will sign him for less. Which means it probably was the right move to make.
2012 goal = 4:59 for 1,500 meters. (before then just get healthy)
bless you good people, but can ya'll shot op about the flocking NFL 2010; it's less than a month to April!
If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be. I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila

Idiot. Free agency is just starting and the draft is right around the corner.
There is a long dark road ahead of me.
I had no idea, that is surprising. I figured with a few dissapointing years in AZ and then the timeshare with Benson in Chicago he hadn't taken as many as hits as some of the other backs...I was wrong.
I figured with no cap this year and "only" a 3mill bonus they would have hung on to him. I bet the Chargers wish they dumped LT last offseason and drafted Wells or Greene.
Dude it's only 6 months 'til kickoff weekend.
Big day. Free agency has started.
Peppers to the Bears????
They need more than just Peppers to make up for that head case of a QB.
Free agency is going to be upside down without the cap and '11 having no labor contract. I bet it will be quiet and dollars low.
Yes, and the fact that you have to be in the league for 6 years instead of 4 to be a UFA changes things as well. There's just less quality out there. And many FA's are over 30. You'll see a few signings early then teams will wait, I think.
Not quite as exciting as prior years.
the Bears have no #1 or #2 pick. they have to try and buy their way to a winning season before the team is completely over the hill.
I doubt it will work. The offensive line is bad. They really have no strength as the defense is mediocre and the offense is not really very good at either running or passing.

Other than that, how do you think they'll do?
Friggin Colts Polian can't even make up their mind about Bracket - the heart of the Defense - and they worship Sanders - who is great when healthy hasn't been or produced in two seasons. WTF!
Polian is supposed to be THE genious in the NFL front office but I wonder. He builds great teams but can't close the deal for the big one. Atlanta Braves of the 90s = Colts of the 2000's. I hope they get their shit together on FA.
I think some of the RFA's are going to get some interest though. A couple of them got some surprising tenders put on them
Brandon Marshall - 1st
Leon Washington - 2nd
I realize you till have to sign these guys to contract and the other teams can match but still I think there will be some RFA interest from teams.
Also there a few Free Agents of interest but not much:
Karlos Dansby
Antrelle Rolle
Chester Taylor
Darren Sharper
Antonio Bryant
