I'm running a 25K race on Saturday, April 7th. Running 20+ on Friday afternoon and aiming to PR the 25K on tired, overtrained legs. Seems like a smart thing to do...
Ron Daws 25K
Goal: 1:38:30 or better for a PR
It's a tough, hilly course so this is gonna hurt. I do this every year though (well, at least for the past two years) running 20 or more the day before the race and just seeing what I have in me at the race.

Thank you so much, EGH3!

Three cheers for EGH, and kudos to Ilene for the effort and output.

I HATE HATE HATE that race.
Of course the only time I ever ran it, later that week was when I first found out I was pretty terribly anemic. Which may or may not be why my half split was 20 minutes slower than my half PR at the time. Been struggling with it on and off since.
I blame that race
...but good luck to you!
How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?
break'n three
Yikes. You can put them away now that Pauly has had his look.
Thanks to you both.

Heh, I remember that race. I recall Ben did very well (2nd OA, or was it 1st?) but we were worried when you didn't come in just shortly before or after me. It's a tough course for sure, especially on the 2nd loop when the hills seem like they've all of a sudden doubled in incline. Seems like your training has been going well.
Maybe you and Ben want to consider running it again this year as a final medium LR with hills for Boston? Slay the beast that gave you problems a few years ago. I don't think the race has capped and you can't go wrong for $5. Gerad Mead is running it and we're hitting Pizza Luce for beers after the race.
Whinny bitch - Just get it done.
This has to be one of the best low key events ever - Historic training grounds of Ron Daws - 2 really nice big hills and some medium each loop x 2. Really cheap ($5 back when I did it) and you still got chocolate chip cookies afterward. I still wish I lived in MN for this race sake.
We need more races like this and many - many less "Events" ... Who needs a stink'n t-shirt or music etc. Just runners - Running. I would say a cooler full of beer would be nice - But since it is at a Baptist church, I need to show a little "R-E-S-P-E-C-T"

The other thing I loved about this race - I could count on running a faster pace in my spring marathon - then I could do at this race. So if I could run 6:50 pace at Ron Daws - You know you can run 6:40 pace 4-6 weeks later in a marathon.
