Ok....I just joined RA and also the 2000 mile club. Hope it keeps me motivated! I'll be starting at a deficit as I have no January data to log ( I don't remember what I did), but was able to login Feb, so it'll be fun moving up the scale Wink Steve

Welcome to the madness! What was your 28 mile race?
Also, I have been to Jemez Springs, although it has been a while. That is cool you are from there. What do you do?

        You'll ruin your knees!

For those of you who don't know Hardrock, it is the Mother of all 100 mile races! The pic in Steve's avatar is Virginius Pass, 31 miles into (depending on which direction they are running it...) the course and 13,000 feet. Have you ever had to "glissade" during a race???? Evil grin Welcome, Steve! Lynn B

Hi Gang... The race was the Jackrabbit Rally in El Paso on Feb 10th. It was listed as a trail marathon, but the RD told me what the real distance was...it was basically three loops of various distances. The course was typical desert and scrub...got hot for me on the third loop when it got sunny. nice thing was i was the first real old guy and set a new over 50 CR. I moved to Sierra Los Pinos, a small community of homes just north of Jemez Springs from Jaffrey, NH. last June to live at altitude to better prepare for altitude ultras and also to get closer to my wife's family in Fort Worth. I am a mechanical designer, but do not work at the lab. I work at a company called Hytec. The commute is about 40 min's. so not bad at all. If you're ever out this way, send me an email... ultrastevep@gmail.com This is my house in the center http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=742037 I have glissaded many times in training and once during the race a couple of years ago when we had lots of snow. One story I can tell is in 2001 I was glissading down Virginius (in training) and hit a boulder. I saw stars, tumbled down the side of the mountain leaving blood tracks in the snow. The race was in two weeks...a friend of mine said that if I could run the three miles down to the road, then I'd be ok for the race....I ran down and immediately put my butt in a frozen stream. I couldn't sit much for awhile, but I finished the race ;-) Here's the link for Hardrock... http://run100s.com/HR/ If you go to the link you'll also see that one of my wife's paintings was chosen for the finisher's print this year. Hardrock is my running passion....my dream is to finish 10, I am 1 for 5. My wife and I are entered in the Zane Gray 50 miler in April (AZ), the Jemez 50 in May (NM) and the San Juan Solstice 50 in June (CO). I believe these to be the three hardest 50 milers in the country and should be good prep for Hardrock in Mid July. Steve
