Fast is better than long
I've been doing strong speed and psuedo distance, but not sure where my endurance stands right now for this. I will do or die trying.
I still want to preserve enough energy to drink well on Broadway Sat. night & survive a few PWP trails on Sun. morning

C-R - 3/9 - 500 Festival Training Series 10k Goal <42
I am going to do a 5K or 10K . I am choosing between the approximately 30 available in the Atlanta area this weekend...
I haven't run a 5K or 10K in... well, hell, 2 years?
Mainly because I know I'm slow and don't want to confront how slow. But since I decided I'm turning it around I need to know where I'm at...
If I do a 10K, goal will be within 10 minutes of PR (so under 55 min)
If I do 5K, goal will be within 5 minutes of PR. (so under 26 min)
But I am mainly talking out my behind in coming up with that.
I kind of rather would do a 10K because it gives me time to adjust my pace if I don't start off fast enough which might be an issue with no speed work and no racing at any distance in almost a year... but the 5K is within walking distance of home. Will update when I decide, but am committing now before I can talk myself into candy-assing another marathon again and pretend I would ever push myself to save my life.

First race post-baby. Ran 16:11 last year when training was better and I already had a few races under my belt. 16:30 is probably a stretch, but I think I can do it if I don't go out too fast.
Other cool fact: if I break 17, it will be two decades of sub17 5k fitness. One more year and that fitness will be able to legally drink.
The Logic of Long Distance
So..safe to assume that for now your underage fitness is drinking Boone's Farm strawberry while driving rural roads in a '75 Chevy and listening to Dylan...cool.
(Seriously, that is a pretty freakin' amazing stat!)
Did an angel whisper in your ear and hold you close and take away your fear...In those long last moments
Nice, ha ha.

I've basically been base-building, so it will be cool to see what I can do. Last year I was 8th place in 20-flat.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
No Talent Drips
Gonna try and use this race as a workout of some sort or another...oh, fuck it...I have no idea what I'm doing. This would be a PR, albeit a soft one. Maybe I'll taper. Maybe not. Lots of uncertainty.
This I do know: I will wear my Redman Chew hat and I will take joy in the few moments of actual racing that occur.
