I've got a fever...

4 miles at lunch. 8:12 pace. 93°F. 53% Relative Humidity. Heat Index 103°F. DAMN, that's hot. That was not fun. But I think it helped to break the losing streak. And staved off a pink-gloved beating for at least a little while.

On your deathbed, you won't wish that you'd spent more time at the office.  But you will wish that you'd spent more time running.  Because if you had, you wouldn't be on your deathbed.

Crabby, here's what to do with the salmon: 1. smoke 2. pack up 3. send to PerfesserR

Um, hello? We're runners. We WANT to hear about your salmon. Well, actually we just want to eat it, we read a Runner's World article a while ago that said it was good for us, and it is the first time in our lives a food we like has been confirmed as healthy. This is a cut-back week for me, so I'm deciding whether to go mid-long today or do two middle runs - one today and one tomorrow. Did 5.x yesterday

                      One day at a time

Day 2 of my forced week of rest due to achilles tendonitis. Blech. I went out and sat in the sun to try to cheer up. Everywhere I drive, it's like that ad - millions of runners, all mocking me! Cry

                        dork.major dork.

Did 6.6 today, bringing in just above 20 miles. That's gonna be it for the week. I'm feeling the 33.3 from last week, pride goeth before the fall, and all that -- my left hip flexor is acting up and I'm just achy and tired, so tomorrow is going to be a rest day.

                          ...---...

9 total Saturday morning. By the 8th mile, the sun was baking us pretty good so we called it at 9. In this heat, I would feel like an olympian if I managed a consistent 15 miles a week. Supposed to be 101 degrees to day so no running for me. Wouldn't mind some of that fresh salmon here too. I finally picked up some clay pots for cooking salmon on grill (thanks PerfesserR for the tip!) which produced a perfectly tender and moist filet. Stole/copied a shrimp "gambas" sauce from a local eatery that we love with it. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!

I am running at least 8 this morning...hopefully 10...we shall see! Would love to box up the salmon and send some smoked your way. One salmon doesn't go far up here because you throw the fillets on the grill invite 4 folks over who also have some friends that come along and then its gone! I find Alaskans funny (me being from CA) that any even is a reason for a potluck. Anyway, as I mentioned to Eric...come to Juneau...run a trail with me...run the HM or marathon and they always serve fresh salmon afterwards. I am sort of lame with web pics so I'll change my profile picture to include the salmon!
