Feeling the growl again

Go big or go home, right?  Just didn't think I would be at home for so damn long.

That really sucks.  At least you got that race for it I guess....

Yet again here I am. Had a cervical MRI done last Thursday. Doc wants me to see Neuro/physiology specialist down at Hershey so have to wait for an appointment. I'm going to a sports orthopedist tomorrow for freaken  left foot JUST in case the problem with it is NOT related to what's going on with me (though pretty sure it is) I'm not running. Thankfully I have my Concept 2 and my nowhere bike to keep me somewhat sane

Hope they figure out what going on with you Rocken, your medical file must be pretty thick by now and you have many data points for the docs to look at.

Dealing with injuries  is frustrating as I just learnt. My issue is relatively simpler, they think its just caused by a repetitive motion and strengthening and doing other sports with varied motion is the answer. I am going to be patient and heal up, Half assed training is just leading me down a path of slower running.

As for me. I see the Neuro specialist at Hershey on the 23rd of next month. I saw the ortho this morning and she wants me to get an MRI of my foot done. One to completely rule out a stress fracture since there wasn't any in the xray and second, she saw several abnormalities that she'd like to look more into. Just may be another piece to the puzzle, I like to call ME.

Anyhooo hope you all have a great Turkey day!! And I am telling you I have more than enough going on for everyone in this group so I expect everyone that needs mending to do it ASAP!

                  Feeling the growl again

Apparently my sciatic issues are not completely gone.  The last few times I get into running hard, I start to lose coordination and control of my right leg.  Nervous enough on the treadmill that I want to cut it shot less I biff it and get spit off the back.  For now I will blame it on too much sitting and transAtlantic flights.

Got to test the knee/calf with run/walk last week.  No pain - but every step I am scared to death. "Is that it?  Is that is?  Could that be it?"

Run portion of yesterday's outing was 46 minutes.....better than nothing.  But a 20 miler seems nearly impossible from where i sit today. I know patience is a virtue.  One I don't have.

But I am grateful - as is my family - that I was able to finally run a bit and get outside.

Sorry to hear about your pains Rocken, Spaniel and HappyFeet.  I hope Santa is good to all of us this year - with quick healing and decent weather.

                            Ready, go.

Thanks Tara, Good to hear you are on the mend.  Hope Spaniel's issue does not turn into anything nastier.

The problem with my issue is I that I don't have any problem while actually running, but later when I have this constant pain in the thigh due to the nerve inflammation/irritation.  Sleep is severely compromised as I keep waking up every 20-30 minutes with the leg screaming. As injuries go, I think mine is relatively minor, but according to one doctor there is not a real solution if rest does not fix it, short of surgically cutting off the offending nerve which is only a sensory nerve and will not compromise motion, but the leg will likely be numb the rest of my life.

Thanks Tara, Good to hear you are on the mend.  Hope Spaniel's issue does not turn into anything nastier.

Have you tried taking Gabapentin for your nerve pain? I've been taking it for over 2 years and it helps. If not I'd talk to doctor about it before even thinking about surgery!
