3650 Miles in the Hurtlocker

I'm going to hurt myself (Read 3386 times)

Prince of Fatness

All because I did not move right to clear a path for someone behind me (which I had no obligation to do under any rules out there) who could have just passed on the right.

I've been ignoring the race threads but just went and looked.  Damn dude.  Heal up.

    Not at it at all.

Send that pic to the RD and Indy Runners President. I'm still p.o.'d about this.

I think I sent the first pic, which wasn't quite as bad, with my email to him that I bcc'd you on but I can't remember now.  I'm giving him today to respond before I contact the IR President.  Unless my mood changes I'll be cutting out about 2pm to go file a police report.

Given the chatter from myself and now others, my guess is that the delay is because they are circling the wagons before responding and the President is already aware of the incident.

Don't these guys know anything - the cover-up is always worse than the crime.

Good luck. LMK if you need anything.

If B is the one up between Battleground and Lafayette, I vote for that.  Eagle Greek is OK but I think we've both run there enough that it gets old after awhile, and I don't like races with stairs in them.  I know nothing of C.

C is the only one on the list I've done. It's near Danville, IL and is more like a cross country course than a trail. It's pretty exposed an can be really hot. I had a good time (if not distance) last year. Because it's a time race, I won't be pressured to fast...not that fast is anything likely to happen for a while. You'd do well out there - close by, ultra, not cold, and over the type of terrain I think you excel at.

Isn't EC a night race. That would worry me + wooden stairs.

There is a night race at EC, but this one is different. I haven't actually ever run a race at EC despite having been there so much. I don't know if the course is still the same, but this one used to start on the west side of the park. I am a little scratched up right now from a Town Run night loop - a parks truck pulled, I guess to make sure the lot was clear, right as I was heading into the trail. He didn't see me, but some briars did.

I will keep that in mind...I am ok with cold though, despite having a hard time keeping warm in the winter it is heat that really kills me.

The winner last year was Colford at just under 57. I saw him near you in the photos from your ill fated half, so you should be near pace for a win. I camped out the night before last year. There was a beer truck that was supposed to be locked. Supposed to be.

                        Feeling the growl again

I was a little intimidated by today's planned workout, I had not done it in a LONG time and wondered if I had the strength for it.  Inspired by the great Bob Kempainen.   8 X half mile repeats at 12mph with 90sec jog recoveries...1 mile easy....4 mile tempo 10.5mph (5:43 pace).  Felt solid at the time, a few hours later I'm really feeling it...

Either I'm starting to do something differently on the treadmill that makes workouts on it look better than I really am or I may actually be beating myself into shape finally.

                              That would certainly hurt.

I am unfamiliar with the trail system.  If things continue to look poor for me ever returning to speed I may give up on a spring marathon....or run one in Jan/Feb...and target something like this.  In which case, an early winter recon trip up there to run the trail would be in order.
