I already got promoted into a new job this year, that's old news...
Zone only works if you can get the dog to help.
Look at it this way, you will get a chance to do short sprint work inside the house. Cross training.

He really does try but it's hard without thumbs. Although he does a spectacular job of keeping any errant food off the floor.
You should see how pissed he gets when the baby cries and we don't go get her.
You need to put the older one in a harness with a bungee cord attached to you. This will be great resistance to help build the future running ability and allow for a smaller area to cover in zone defense.
Not this also works well when teaching a tot to downhill ski
