      CliveF -- 12/3 -- Huntersville Holiday 5k -- (a) sub-20; (b) sub-20:30; (c) Thunder-esque implosion.

20:36 on what I repeatedly map as a 5.12km course.  Still wouldn't have been sub-20, but darn close.  Grrr.

My last-chance 5k is Christmas Eve (of all the dates to pick!).  Unfortunately, I suspect that course is a bit short, making me feel kinda cheesy going for sub-20 on it.  Probably won't stop me, though Blush ... assuming I can get permission to race it.

        Great Job Tim!!!

I was hoping sub 22 however not in the cards today. For the first time in a 5k my first mile was the fastest however I dialed back a bit too much when we hit the biggest hill. I must really suck at math cause when I saw what I was doing in my 3rd mile I still thought I'd go sub 22  (though the course did measure 3.15) so I didn't feel the need to push any more than I was, that is until I saw the clock in the not too far distance. Anyway not too dissappointed in today's performance. Still trying to transition ultra mentality to 5k. I have another 5k next week. Plan is to focus on not easing up thinking I'll have time to make up the lost time, cause in a 5k there is no time for that! Anyway's got first in age group, would have been first masters had they did masters award, Prd, and learned a bit more. Thanks Tim for being there! Next time ipod stays home so I'll actually be focusing on where you are instead of trying to shove ipod ear buds into zippered pocket.

        Oh and 22:35 for me

Looked for you but didn't see ya. Had several beers in the cooler with your name on them. I also had some of that swill but it helped me. Perhaps you shouldn't have had the whole can.Wink

Weather was awesome. I overdressed as usual. Not too wet. Only hit the deck once. Fall, roll and pop up. No injury just dirt. Got some applause from the runners behind me. Heh.

Its just a hard damn course. I was not prepared for what it threw. I will return for my revenge.

21:26.  I'll take it.  It was almost perfect running weather.  Upper 30's, light wind, sunny.  There are a couple hills on the course but not too difficult.  I didn't use a watch and was worried how I would pace it.  I really did well with this, as I felt just a slight urge to puke at the end.  I felt like I could hold on, but couldn't pick it up.  Perfect.

I'm at least 10 pounds over weight and hadn't raced in 8 months, so to be less than 90 seconds off my 5K PR is encouraging.

Well done tater. Another brick in the wall. Well done.

I fell asleep next to the finish for a while. It was the 2nd can that I ran with that got me. I think my friend I was going to have you pace off of finished the same minute as you. Ran shirtless most of the way. Many I think were jealous.
