          Feeling the growl again

Thanks.  The blue arrow is a shot through the heart of all my ambitions for this race.  Wink  On the bright side, I no longer feel so bad that I was not able to execute the last 6 weeks of preparation the way I should have.  On to Boston....

Slow and probably a few tenths long, but really fun. They fit as many hills as you can pack into 3 miles, and running on the fairways was neat - and a cool 400m long wood footbridge through a swamp.

maybe 100 runners, mostly JV crossers and their dads. Kind of cruised once I had it won before mile 2, so it was slow. 1OA, 18:32. Fun race.

                Feeling the growl again

                  11/1 - spaniel - Monumental Marathon, Indianapolis, IN - 2:32

Training has fallen off the tracks for the past month, but I will stick with the original goal regardless.

DNF.  I don't know if was GI issues (I nearly threw up the first Gu at 10K and felt awful from the gun) or if my legs simply froze up in the cold and wind.  Whatever it was, despite keeping the effort well within myself, past 8 miles my pace started to climb from steady 5:50s to 6:15 and at 10 miles (about 59:45) I elected for a 4.5 mile jog back to somewhere warm over committing to a 16 mile hypothermic slog-fest.  Now I can start training for Boston next week without a big recovery period.

Sorry to hear about the DNF! Way to be smart!

Rocken, do you check your blood  pressure at home? Mine is usually 128/78 or lower at home (I'm on BP meds), and is always 155/90 or higher in the Doc's office. White coat syndrome plus I sit quietly at home for at least 5 minutes before checking it, and they don't usually wait more than a minute in the doc's office. Anyway, I hope you get it worked out and everything is ok for running!

I don't check it at home but am at the doctors enough (between specialists and regular doctor) that Monday's reading along with all that is going on with me is worrisome. It actually showed just how crappy I'm feeling

I hope I get it worked out soon too and Thanks!

Sorry to hear health issue are getting in the way again Rocken. Hopefully it's something that's easily fixed. I know you really want to run, but remember, it's just running. Your health comes first. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Running is a sign that I'm somewhat healthy which is why I'm not going down without a fight. I will be showing up tomorrow and I will be starting. Finishing? Who knows. I will be carrying my phone with me and my husband is prepared to pick me up where ever I may be if needed. My brain knows this is stupid but my heart is over ruling it as it always does. You would think with a  prediction of Partly Cloudy 39 feels like 31 and winds NNW 17MP  that I would be like, OK staying in bed sounds better. But  it feels like " Rocken's last stand"

Anyway thanks WhoDat and everyone else!

I was beginning to wonder. Trying to check the online updates, it had you for a 10k split but nothing after that. Sorry to hear things didn't work out and you weren't feeling. It's probably for the better with the DNF. Less damage to the body to recover from.  There's another friend running today (bib 14) and I'm not seeing any updated pass 10k. Hope everything is alright there too.

That stinks, Spaniel, but sounds like the right call. Onward.
