Feeling the growl again

All I can say is wow Berlin.  I can't wait to see the splits from this one, it sounds like they ran it pretty evenly.

Yup, only 20sec variability across all 5K splits.  Simply amazing.  I always thought Makau's record was weak (ahem, relatively!) simply because of how uneven that particular race was run.  He basically crashed at the end but was so far ahead that he still got it.  This one was much better executed.

Damn, talk about precise pacing.   I did not see/hear the race coverage.  Was there ever really a race for the win or just him for the WR?

              First four-time sub-205 guy. Amazing.

Four guys broke away when the pacers quit at 31k. But, Im guessing that it was Kipsang's race to lose.

My understanding from his pre-race comments was that he was a bit annoyed at the way London went, people out for themselves instead of racing to go fast.  So he we deliberately setting this race up with pacers for the WR.

With the pace they went out, seems it was kind of WR or bust, if you played games they just left you behind.  That's kind of what it has come to now at this level -- it's either a WR attempt or a competition, but can't be both unless 2+ are gunning for WR...

I still remember the days of London...Haile, Tergat, even Khannouchi I believe trading blows all going for the WR in the same race....good times...

I can sympathize with the people who say running gets boring in sit-and-kick races.  Races like this are so much more exciting.  I like watching Farah race but at the same time it's not the same watching him sit for 9K and kick as it is following these guys running 14;30 5Ks one after the other gunning for the record...
